Happy New Year to all our players, mentors, parents/guardians, supporters and sponsors. I hope 2021 will be a much improved year for all of us in every way.

Latest guidelines from the GAA is that all activities at club level is suspended for the duration of Level 5. Therefore there will be no hurling at club level for the foreseeable future.
As soon as things open up again we will all be looking forward to our usual activities. However, this does not stop anyone from hurling at home and keeping up their skill levels while enjoying some good exercise at the same time.

Club Calendar
The beautifully produced Club Calendar for 2021 is now available form committee members and features many of the club's activities and teams from 2020. Thank you to all the wonderful sponsors who contributed to making it possible. We ask our members and supporters to support them in this difficult time in any way possible.

QUIZ Fundraiser
Thanks to all who attended and supported our charity on-line quiz with all proceeds going to Athlone St Vincent de Paul. Over twenty families took part and had a great night's entertainment. The Baker family from Caulry came first with the Mc Carthy's from Auburn Heights second. Also picking up prizes were the Quigley and Feeney families.

It’s been an extraordinary year; as what we’d hoped to do, couldn’t be done, for the most part. But it did afford us the opportunity to do different things and do regular things differently.......

We are blessed with such a variety of members who have different skillsets and are willing to help us out in so many varied ways: That comes in the form of painting, roofing, shelving, netting, sliotar finding, fundraising, sponsoring, coaching, mentoring, roaring, supporting, encouraging, umpiring, photoing, reffing, cleaning, opening up, coffer/tea making, sambos, driving, sanitizing, grant applying, collecting, networking, mediating, emailing, speeching, buying, sizing, promoting, counting, signing, reassigning and much much more.

It has certainly been most heartening to see the collaboration on all fronts especially for COVID, with club members pushing the high standards to which these jobs have been completed.

With no activity on the playing field the club ran an exciting on-line Halloween Costume Event. There was a huge entry and vouchers, sponsored by Concannon's Total Health Pharmacy, for the Best Costume, Best Hurling Theme and Best Make-Up were given out at Acadamy, Under 7, Under 9 and Under 11 age groups. Thank you to sponsor Michelle Concannon for judging the photos. The following were the winners

Southern Gaels Costume Contest. Halloween Spooktacular Event of members sharing their scary creations, with a few prizes, mystery guest guessing and a bit of...

Hey Gremlins, Ghosts & to all our scary monsters out there........ Southern Gaels are running a Halloween Costume Contest.

All types of costumes are invited and all the family members can enter, ah ah ha.....

Just send a photo to your lead mentor of you, your kids and / or your monsters.....

There is a prize for each age group for:
1. Best costume
2. Best make-up
3. Best Hurling themed costume

There will also be a “Guess Who” prize for adult members who have submitted spooky photos.

Someone you know will wear a scary costume and you have to guess who it is, clues being given throughout the day on Halloween Saturday.

We will submit the winners to the Westmeath Independent also.

Let’s have a bit of fun by giving the kids a chance to show off their great outfits.

Then we will put together a video montage for all to see when we announce the winners.

It could be spooktacullarly yooouuuuu.......
