I'm extremely blessed to have so many medicinal plants growing wild in my garden 🙏😍

However I do need to tidy the bed to make room for my Mullein as this plant needs lots of space...then I need to decide whether to make some spring tonic oils and vinegars, some more tinctures or maybe some of each 🤔🤔🤔 😃

Nettles (Urtica Dioica) are making an appearance in my garden 😍 I love seeing this plant grow back after winter 😊

Parts used; Leaves, seeds

Constituents; Vitamins A,B complex, C, E, K, D, folic acid, minerals, bioflavonoids and chlorophyll.

The seeds from nettle are known as a super food which are packed full of vitamins and minerals. Half a teaspoon of dried nettle seed taken in the morning helps increase energy and vitality throughout the day 👌

Nettle leaf works on nourishing the whole body, it nourishes the immune system the digestive system the adrenal glands, the kidneys and the endocrine system.

It helps to reduce fatigue, aid sore joints and helps to promote healthy skin and hair.

In pregnancy it is used to ease leg cramps and muscle spasms, it can help to prevent edema, it is high in calcium and rich in vitamin k, it also helps to increase haemoglobin, strengthens blood vessels and maintains arterial elasticity.
It is a great herb to take while breastfeeding as it increases the quantity and richness of breast milk.

When used fresh Nettle can be used for allergies such as hay fever as it nourishes and heals the lower respiratory system. The sting in nettles holds it's antihistamine properties.

It can be taken as a tincture in either alcohol or apple cider vinegar, as a glycerite (syrup) for children or as a tea infusion ☕

Nettles can also be added to soups, stews, casseroles, steam it like spinach and add it to any dish for a nutritious addition to your meal 🥗😁

✨Recipe for Nettle Soup✨

1 litre of stock (vegetable or chicken)
1 celery stick
2 medium sized potatoes
1 onion
2 carrots
2 cloves garlic
5- 10 nettle leaves (depending on size)
Couple sprigs of fresh Thyme

Gently cook onion, carrots, potatoes, garlic and celery together in small amount of butter/water or stock for about 10 minutes
Add stock, nettle leaves and fresh thyme
Bring to the boil
Simmer until veg is soft
Remove thyme sprigs
Season with sea salt and black pepper
Enjoy 🥰

Last week my 10 year old had this deep, hard to clear cough and a sore throat that many seem to have lately.

Initially I was giving him elderberry, elderflower & marshmallow root syrup along with massaging 10mls olive oil blended with 1 drop of thyme essential oil on his feet x twice a day (immune booster & natural antibiotic, massaging this blend into a child's feet is a beneficial way to get the medicinal properties of thyme into the child) and a blend of 10mls olive oil with 1 drop of eucalyptus essential oil to rub on his chest twice a day (supports the respiratory system)... And colloidal silver spray to treat the sore throat.

After about 3 days on the herbs and oil blends, which combined were giving him some relief, the cough just didn't seem to be shifting and I was woken up one night at 4.30am to him coughing so badly that he was almost choking 😩

The next morning I went out into my garden and asked to be guided to some herbs to help clear my son's cough....As we are still in winter season some plants are still in wintering/hibernation mode so I was delighted to come across these herbs which I made a glycerite (syrup) from for my son 👇

✨Thyme (Thymus Vulgaris) - Antibacterial, antiseptic, antispasmodic, expectorant,
antitussive, antimicrobial

Uses; alleviates coughs including bronchitis, asthma etc by dissolving mucus and relieving coughing spasms. A natural antibiotic (antimicrobial) that strengthens the immune system and aids in fighting infection.

✨Mullein (Verbascum Thapsus) - anti inflammatory, anti catarrhal, antispasmodic, antiseptic, expectorant, demulcent

Uses; treating bronchial, asthmatic and chesty coughs by helping to reduce the production of mucus which aids in getting rid of deep rooted excess phlegm which in turn relieves coughing spasms, wheezing and difficulty breathing.

✨Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis) - anti microbial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, analgesic

Uses; aids symptoms of respiratory infection, mild pain relieving properties, sore throats, kills certain bacteria, which can (in some cases) be the cause of lung issues and lung infection

✨Herb Robert (Geranium Robertianum) - antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, antioxidant

Uses; High in Vit C, B & Iron, treats sore throats, also known as an oxygen carrier that works on a cellular level which benefits the body as a whole, removes free radicals and provides energy (known as the energy giver)
and also known as the radiation plant, it helps to protect the body from environmental issues such as radiation exposure

This blend of herbs worked so well together that he got instant relief and slept right through the night, and the cough is almost gone now 😍✨

🌟🌟Just to note that the herbs listed above have so many other medicinal properties so I just did a basic list of the properties & uses that were beneficial in this case 💖

Making your own herb infused face cream takes time, effort and lots and lots of practice ✨

I began making my own in 2014 and I fell in love with the process....I love experimenting with different oils, essential oils and plants....there is nothing more satisfying than producing a jar of your very own nourishing skin food 🥰

After trying and testing lots of recipes (many I loved and others not so much) while also doing in depth research on herbs, oils, essential oils and their benefits on the skin, I decided in 2021 to try an infusion of Rose, Lemon balm and Oatstraw face cream 🌹✨

This cream is made using a herb infused tea of lemonbalm & oatstraw, a rose & soy oil infusion, locally sourced beeswax (which can be seen in the 1st picture) and hints of geranium, frankincense, carrot seed, lemon & ylang-ylang essential oils. 🌹✨💚

A combination of organic, wild harvested and locally sourced ingredients are in each batch of creams that I make...I do not add unnatural preservatives, chemicals or any hidden nasties ever 🙅‍♀️🚫

This has been by far my favourite blend and it has been so effective not just on my own skin but for so many others from all ages that almost 5 years later I am still making and selling it regularly....I honestly couldn't go a day without it 🥰

There is always some herb tea left over after making my cream which I love to drink after...not only are the benefits of the cream felt on my skin but I also get the uplifting, soothing and nourishing benefits internally from the herb tea. Lemon balm and oat straw are also a great blend for supporting the nervous system 🙏💗

And there's me in the second picture with freshly made face cream lathered on....your welcome 🙏😂🤣🤣

I received this card through my door from a client I hadn't heard from in months and as is generally the case with most clients they either continue with the herbal tonics and protocol designed specifically for them until their ailment/issue has been resolved or I don't hear back from them again.. sometimes they may decide that herbal medicine is not for them, which is absolutely fine, but usually they feel well enough to not need tonics or herbal support anymore 🌱

So it was a lovely surprise to receive a gift voucher for SuperValu in this card and the lovely written message from a previous client who had initially contacted me with breathing issues and a cough that they couldn't shake off

Little messages like this mean the world to me as I can sometimes be my own worst enemy by not having enough confidence in what I do and this message reassured me that I am doing my best in this world by helping people become the best and healthiest versions of themselves 🙏🥰

Each person's ailments or needs are completely different to each other and my work through consultations treats the body, mind and spirit as a whole, as opposed to just plastering over the issue. The important part of my work is to offer support and tools to each person who comes through my door in the hope that they will not just take the herbal tonics I make for them but also take responsibility for their own health and wellbeing 💚

Just thought I'd share this lovely message with you all and remind you that no matter how much you feel you aren't doing enough in this crazy world just remember that there is always someone thinking of you and how you have helped them 🫶✨💓

Wishing you all a beautiful holiday season, look after yourselves and remember to try and get some deep rest during this time of wintering and hibernation 🙏🌹🌿😴🧘‍♂️❤️
