The Spring Covid Vaccination Programme will commence on 15th April. If you are a patient of The Park Clinic and you wish to avail of the vaccine and it is 3 months since you have had your last vaccine or covid infection please call reception on 059 8631839 to book an appointment.

Current eligibility criteria below:

· All those aged 80 and older.
· Those aged 18 years living in long-term care facilities for older adults.
· Those aged 6 months or older with a condition that puts them at high risk of serious illness from COVID-19 - for example, diabetes, asthma or heart disease.
· Those pregnant, from 16 weeks if not already boosted in this pregnancy.

Flu & Covid Vaccinations 2025/26

Our autumn/winter vaccination programme will begin in early October. Where possible, both the flu & Covid vaccines will be given at the same time.

Who can get the vaccines for free?

Everyone aged 60 and older

Children and young people aged 2 to 17 (nasal flu vaccine)

People with long-term health conditions (for example, heart, lung, kidney or liver disease, diabetes or cancer)

People with a weakened immune system

Pregnant women

Healthcare workers

Carers and people who live with or care for someone at higher risk

Covid vaccine only

Adults aged 18 and older who are not in a risk group can also get a booster if they choose, after discussing with a healthcare provider.

Please wait at least 3 months since your last Covid vaccine or infection before getting your booster.

Dear Patient,
💉Pneumococcal/ Pneumonia Vaccine
The pneumococcal vaccine helps protect against serious illnesses like Pneumonia, Meningitis & Sepsis. It's recommended for people at higher risk of these illnesses, such as babies and adults aged 65 and over.

The vaccine is available for free through your GP if you are:
65 years or older,
aged 2 or over and in an at-risk group.

The consultation is free if you have a medical card or GP visit card.

How often to get the pneumococcal vaccine?

If you are age 65 years or older, you only need to get the vaccine once

If you are younger than 65 years, you may need to have 2 doses of the vaccine at least 5 years apart.

👩‍🔬Extension of the Children’s Flu Vaccination Programme 2023/24
The free nasal flu vaccine is now available to all children aged 2-17 years.

The HSE are advising all children aged 2-17 to avail of the free nasal spray flu vaccine for the remainder of the 2023/24 flu season.

Prior to this, only children aged 2-12 years and at-risk children aged 13-17 years were eligible for the free flu vaccine.

The children's nasal Flu Vaccine for those aged 2 - 12 will be available mid October - we will notify you when you can book online.
Please note:- To be eligible for the Covid booster, It must be 6 months since your last Covid vaccine or confirmed Covid infection. In exceptional circumstances an interval of 3 months may be used.

Summary of current booster programme and eligibility:

Booster doses can be offered to:-
All patients aged 18 and over who have previously had their primary dose.
Patients aged 5 - 17 years who are immunocompromised or at a high risk of Covid-19 hospitalisation or severe disease.
Those pregnant, from 16 weeks if not already boosted in this pregnancy.

Remember:

COVID-19 Booster vaccines are not currently recommended for use in primary vaccination against COVID-19 infection in Ireland. Those requiring a primary vaccination course should attend a COVID-19 Central Vaccination Clinic (CVC).

Flu Vaccine eligibility

Patients aged 65 and older
Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy)
Those aged 18-64 who are immunocompromised
Healthcare workers
Residents of nursing homes & long stay institutions
Carers and household contacts of people with increased medical risk.
People with regular contact with pigs, poultry or water fowl.

We are running a covid vaccine clinic on Friday afternoon 3rd March. If you are a patient of The Park Clinic and you wish to avail of the vaccine and it is 4 months since you have had your last vaccine or covid infection please call reception on 059 8631839 to book an appointment.

Current eligibility criteria below:

First booster
· All those aged 12 and older
· Those aged 5 to 11 with a weak immune system
·
Second booster:
· Those aged 18 to 49 – interval of at least 6 months since last COVID-19 vaccine or COVID-19 infection

The following groups can still avail of a second booster, with an interval of at least 4 months since last COVID-19 vaccine or COVID-19 infection:

· Those aged 50 to 64
· Those aged 12 or older with a condition that puts them at high risk of serious illness from COVID-19 - for example, diabetes, asthma or heart disease
· Those pregnant, from 16 weeks if not already boosted in this pregnancy
· Healthcare workers
· Those aged 12 or older living in a long-term care facility

In exceptional circumstances an interval of 3 months may be used.

Third booster
· Those aged 65 and older
· Those aged 12 and older with a weak immune system

Remember:
Bivalent COVID-19 vaccines are not currently recommended for use in primary vaccination against COVID-19 infection in Ireland. Those requiring a primary vaccination course should attend a COVID-19 Central Vaccination Clinic (CVC).
