The UK is looking set to try to reduce their meat consumption by 30% over the next 10 years. It is their first major review of their food system for the last 70 years. The review, led by restaurateur and food writer Henry Dimbleby, said poor diets contributed to around 64,000 deaths each year in England, with a cost to the economy of an estimated £74 billion. There are many questions yet to answer, including who will it hit hardest? What is the impact on the less well off in society and on school meals. It will be interesting to watch this going forward.
