A Virtual Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme was piloted at our hospital in Cork to support patients mid-way through their rehabilitation while elective and routine hospital activities were suspended in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by the success of the virtual programme, Senior Physiotherapist Alexandra Wlazlik-Supernak conducted a research study to assess the programme’s impact on patients' health-related quality of life. The findings were highly promising, showing significant improvements in both physical and mental health outcomes, including a 16% increase in aerobic capacity and cardiovascular performance.

I am CORU registered ISCP member. I specialize in Women's and Men’s Health, Geriatrics, Neuro-Rehabilitation. I am interested in aged care, particularly in the role of exercise in preventing falls in the aged. My time in my clinic is limited due to other commitments. The wait takes a while.
