Birth Doula Services
A Birth Doula is someone who provides non-medical support to a pregnant woman/couple, during the pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. This support can take many forms, from the simple act of being present and holding space, to active listening, massage, acupressure, providing information and assisting in creating a birth plan. Some of the most important things a Doula does
are very simple; making cups of tea, creating a warm atmosphere, for example with use of lighting and essential oils, and holding your hand when you most need comfort and reassurance. Postnatal Doula Services
The role of a Postnatal Doula is to provide both practical support and a listening ear, during the first weeks and months after the birth of your child. Freeing up your time and energy to focus on connecting with your little one. This support is always tailored to your specific needs, but think along the lines of:
*grocery shopping and running errands
*holding your baby whilst you shower
*making nutritious and delicious vegetarian snacks and meals
*vacuuming your home, loading the dishwasher and doing a load (or 5!) of laundry
*providing a non-judgmental listening ear
*accompanying you on those first walks outside with your little one, or to your first infant health checkup
*giving you a relaxing foot massage
*and of course helping out with your other child/children during this transition phase
***I feel strongly that there is often a need for this type of support right the way through the first year and even beyond! So if your baby is older than 5 weeks and you are feeling in need of some extra support please do reach out and we can discuss the possibilities.
