As some people are aware our premises in Manor Road has been undergoing construction work for a considerable amount of time but regular is a must for our members to keep their skills up to date.

So where are you training you might ask?

Enter our friends in the Palmerstown House who have kindly allowed us to use their function room for our weekly sessions and on the odd occasion when the room isn’t available they reserve a small section of the bar for us.

Although we are very grateful for the space this can provide some challenges especially last night for one of our members who needed to sit an exam to gain his qualification in the middle of everyone else doing their regular training.

Congratulations to John for powering through the distractions and passing his EFR exam.

Members had a double celebration at our weekly training session as we celebrated two of amazing achievements.

Firstly we wished a Happy 21st Birthday to Megan. We hope you enjoy your special day..

And then we celebrated the news that Bronagh has successfully passed all her exams and gained her degree. The future is bright and we have no doubt you will smash it.

Yesterday some of our were involved in a plane crash…..

and then they were in a bus crash followed by a train crash but don’t panic they are all fine.

We were invited to partake as patients for some scenarios for Dublin Fire Brigade’s Mass Casualty Incident Training. These events are a great opportunity for our members to see how to treat multiple casualties under pressure with many people screaming for help at the same time aswell as help the get an insight of how to respond in the event of a real incident.

Thank you to all the men and women of the emergency services who run towards an emergency when others are running out

An early start for our Members this morning as we provided cover alongside our Order of Malta Ireland - Ambulance Corps - Eastern Region Colleagues for the annual Darkness into Light Phoenix Park

This duty holds a special place in our hearts each year as we join the thousands of people walking in remembrance of family and friends and all those whose lives have been affected by ***de.

If you’re worried that a friend or loved one is thinking of su***de – here are some of the key warning signs to watch out for:

Listen to what they say:

Talking or writing about hurting themselves, dying, or saying that they want to die.

Talking about ways to die or having a su***de plan.

Saying that ‘nothing is going to change' or they feel like a ‘burden’.

Saying they have no purpose in their lives, that they feel hopeless.

Behavioural changes:

Engaging in self-harm or risk-taking behaviour.
Giving items away or saying goodbye to people.

Becoming more inward-looking and withdrawing from family and friends.

Changes in their sleep patterns – too much or too little sleep.

Extreme emotions or dramatic changes in mood.
Increasing their use of drugs or alcohol.

If you recognise one or more of these warning signs in a loved one’s behaviour, don’t wait for someone else to do something.

If you’re struggling, please know you are not alone. Talk to someone.
