Our stories

We recently shared a series of posts all about the Neurofeedback brain training we use in our clinic. This is an FDA approved Wellness Technology that has been life transforming for many people around the world. We are among these people, Michael and Alison.

A Life of Anxiety
Having lived more years of his life with severe anxiety and constant worry, affecting him physically, mentally, and emotionally, than living a life full of opportunity, joy, happiness, and interacting with people, Michael is a different person now.

Since the age of 12, I lived in anxiety, which took away my youth and many years of my early adult life. I’m 45 now and it was only when I came across Neurofeedback in 2015 that I experienced something that could possibly change my life. I was so desperate for help that in 2008 I took off to India for a year searching for that help. I found a few things that helped but nothing was long-lasting. I had another few visits to India after that but it was my visit in 2015 that would change my life without me even knowing it. This was when I experienced Neurofeedback while visiting a good friend in South India. I will be forever grateful to him for putting me on the life path I am on now, FREE from Anxiety -- Michael

Youth lost to Anxiety, Stress and Depression
Alison's journey has been similar to Michael’s, the struggles and pains she has experienced for most of her life:
I found reading and spelling very difficult in primary school and would put massive pressure on myself to learn words off my heart to try to avoid the embarrassment of getting words wrong when asked to read out loud in class. This meant I was stressed and anxious a lot growing up. In my earlier 20's I found out I had an auditory processing delay and could finally understand my learning difficulty and could get support.
After years of nervousness and chronic anxiety, I would get periods of total burnout and feel deeply depressed, and have insomnia. These very dark periods were incredibly painful and I would have suicidal thoughts. I was on a continuous search for natural solutions.

It wasn't until I found neurofeedback that I got to the core of regulating my nervous system and my chronic anxiety cleared. This lead to sleeping deeply each night, my mind was clear and I could deal with stress a lot easier. Life became enjoyable instead of a struggle -- Alison

How Many Neurofeedback Session Do You Need?

One workout at the gym will not likely produce noticeable changes in your physique. Likewise, one session of NeurOptimal Neurofeedback is often not enough to produce long-lasting results.
According to a survey of 3 million NeurOptimal Neurofeedback users, 72% of clients with sleep problems saw symptom improvements of 40% or better with 11-20 brain-training sessions.

What happens during a Neurofeedback session?

During a NeurOptimal Neurofeedback session, you will wear three painless ear clips and two small sensors on the sides of your head. These pick up the delicate electrical activity of your brain. You relax on a comfortable recliner chair and close your eyes and listen to soothing music.

The internal workings
NeurOptimal Neurofeedback processes your brain signals very rapidly and when it detects them moving into an “instability”, the music pauses very briefly. This is the “feedback”.

Consciously, of course, this has no meaning for us — in fact, we may not even notice them. But unconsciously our brain understands the mathematics behind the timing of the pauses. The brain adjusts its activity without any effort from you (you can be completely zoned out if you want). The brain does this on its own — NeurOptimal Neurofeedback doesn’t tell it to.

A 2020 cross-sectional study published in Science Reports has found that reduced sun exposure during the day and vitamin D deficiency can affect sleep duration and sleep quality (13). Reduced sunlight during the day can also interfere with your circadian rhythms and sleep cycle.

I recommend that you get some sunlight during the day. Open up the curtains and let the sunshine in. Take a walk outside and exercise outdoors. Sit out during the day to enjoy a cup of tea, eat lunch, or read a book. Even during the colder months, it’s important that you get some sunshine as long as it’s out and get as much sunlight as possible.

Wonderful zinc 😍

I always hear people heralding the virtues of magnesium because it plays a role in "300 enzymes". I agree, it's important. All nutrients are, really. You miss one and it quickly becomes your limiting factor. We need to be singing the praises of zinc a bit more, especially with our collective focus on immunity. 2000 enzymes and ~750 transcription factors need it, and, as a trace mineral, it's second to iron in abundance. Every time I get into the research of a nutrient, I realize how incredible it is...
