Wayne got me up the hill on a brisk sunny morning walk when he decided to have a lie in at the top corner of the field in a lovely sheltered hollow out of sight....he got up to meet me like - mum why do you look so concerned? But as all livestock owners know for sure from their own experience, when you scan the field and one is missing you can't help but hasten your step, and then cherish the relief when he's just taking a nap!

A grand day for an eventing training session ๐ŸŒ€๐Ÿ’ง๐ŸŒจ๐ŸŒฌ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒซ
Super venue as always at Kilguilkey House but the weather made it all more interesting. The jump numbers kept on spinning out of sight of us riders or fall over altogether, and then there was the sideways rain that made you squint anyways...
But I am very pleased with Skye having a good 80s round all contributing factors considered - and hat off and big applause to Kate on Flora. First time ever for Kate at an arena event, and she sailed around the show jump phase and had a good go at the cross country, at that stage being almost blown off course with the wind picking up.
Well done for riding on regardless, great demonstration of grit and determination! It can only get easier from now on ๐Ÿ˜…

Great to be back and busy! Very pleasant weather today for our first full day of 2026. We are all fully fuelled and rested after a few days of doing nothing much but the usual yard chores for me and snoozing/eating for the animals.

What a gorgeous evening recently with some of the bestest Hairy Henry friends and supporters ๐Ÿ’ž
I couldn't do what I do without you! Your kind words of encouragement, feedback and support go a long way, and that is before going into detail of all the many wheelbarrows of muck, bales of hay, buckets of water you help shifting, and the many steps you put in to team up with my horses in the arena, and the mounds of patience, experience, knowledge, skills, devotion kindness and care you put in to support all children and adults who come here for sessions.
Thanks for joining me to ring in a new year at the Hairy Henry Care Farm, may it be filled with kindness, peace, health, joy, love, laughter and content ment for all of you and all creatures who live here and everyone who comes here for sessions.

Another one from our come back this winter. We had a great couple of weeks out and about over the holidays, riding through the beautiful wintery landscape, testing our returning fitness, agility and confidence over different obstacles, here at Ballinadee New Year's Day Funride. This is a comfortable height jump now for Skye, although she still has a little stare and stop moment, but I must point out this is 2 hours into an active ride, so we are getting tired, with Flora passing the jump, so Skye is on her own with no immediate lead, finding remaining stamina and bravery to do the leap, and she does it no bother, just cautiously, that's her way at the moment. We will work on more flowing approaches and take offs in the season ahead of us!
