Letter to the Teddy Bear Hospital 🥰
Dear Bear Essentials Team,
I’m writing to ask whether you might be able to help with the restoration of a very old and deeply loved teddy bear named Torry Patch. He was given to me as a baby, and my mother told me he was already old then, so he’s well over 68 years old now!.

Torry Patch has no monetary value, but he’s of great sentimental value to me. Over the years, he has had several makeshift repairs, and he may well be beyond repair? However,. I would love to preserve his character and history, rather than make him look “new”, so if there is anything you could do to help me with that, I would be most grateful.

I’ve attached two photos - a front and a back view of him to give you a better idea of his condition. My mother put him in the bin when I was about 5 years old because he was so worn and his face was ripped open around his neck. But I saw him lying there and ran out of the house to secretly rescue him. The ‚bin men’ were making their way towards us but I managed to get him out of the bin in time. Unfortunately a much loved doll was less fortunate. I’m still ‘traumatised’ at the thought of that day!

However, I took Torry Patch to an elderly neighbour, who was a family friend, and he repaired him…you can still see his rough sewing attempt to this day. Since then I have moved house several times, and Torry Patch was always with me. However, during my last move approx 12 years ago I had packed him away and was beginning to think I had lost him again - but, to my delight and surprise, he turned up today - in a bag with other bears I’d completely forgotten about. He’s very bedraggled looking but so precious I just can’t imagine throwing him out.
Thank you in advance for your time and care. I know you’ll understand how much these bears mean to those of us who’ve held on to them for so long.

Good morning Anke
I have received my bear and I am delighted with him.
The new fur matches his original colour so well and none of it looks too new, so he still has his 'aged' look, which is exactly what I wanted. He looks great!
So thank you again and very best wishes for the future.

Thieves have stolen the valuables of a visitor to Berlin from North Rhine-Westphalia. But what hurts the man most is that the perpetrators took his cuddly toy, a gift from his dead mother.
