A consistent yoga practice benefits both body and mind and that’s a drum well beaten by moi….but worth repeating. 🤷‍♀️ Over time, and that’s the key along with being consistent, yoga helps increase flexibility, strengthen muscles, improves posture, and enhances balance and coordination and let’s not forget its positive effects on mental and emotional health. Regular movement and stretching can also reduce muscle tension, ease stiffness, and support better circulation and breathing. One of the additional features, and many people repeat this, they experience improved sleep quality and increased energy levels with regular practice.

In the long term, yoga supports healthy aging and encourages, self-awareness, and a stronger mind-body connection. Oops and I can’t overlook natural resistance too as many poses require the body to support its own weight, which strengthens the core, legs, arms, and back.

Our last practise of the week is in the Goods Store Belturbet, Friday morning at 10am. Please feel free to join us as we support our physical and emotional health and experience all the additional yummy benefits! Namaste 🙏🏻🧘‍♀️

Brahmacharya is one of the five ethical guidelines in Patanjalis Yoga Sutras. Traditionally, Brahmacharya referred to celibacy… this definitely isn’t a contemplation here or will ever be🤪. However in a broader, more modern sense, it means being mindful about how we use our physical, mental, and emotional energy, even if you’re not a yogis this might be worth a consideration 🤷‍♀️ So, not overindulging in sensory pleasures or distractions….well the odd time is grand 😉
Now I believe in balance so rather than strict abstinence, it’s fair to interpret Brahmacharya currently as:
self-control (spiritual endeavours weren’t supposed to be easy right!)
excess (in my case sweet sh*te.)
energy toward personal growth (I think on some level we’d all agree on this pursuit 🙏🏻)
In short, Brahmacharya is about balance and conserving energy for what truly matters. I’m looking forward to our practice on Friday morning in the Goods Store. A wholistic balance is in the works, so please join us at 10am, see you there!

If your job dictates sitting at a desk for lengthy periods, your hip position is going to be in flexion. Consequently, long durations of sitting can tighten and shorten the iliopsoas muscle (a powerful hip muscles) and re**us femoris (part of the quads). If sitting (long durations) is unavoidable then correction is required for balance. It makes sense to counter this by bringing this area into either neutral or in particular extension for relief. I’m sure your boss is tuned into this and provides regular breaks to stretch out! 🤪 But if not you need to offset tight hips with focused poses. In yoga asanas/ postures that stretch the front hip flexors and open the groin are Low Lunge (Anjaneyasana), Lizard Pose, and Bridge Pose ( Setubandha Sarvangasan) to name but a few. These poses lengthen hip muscles strengthen the glutes and aid in restoring pelvic balance and reduce lower back issues. Modified yoga poses are used to suit all levels. Soo…. if this sounds like a remedy to your pain then please come along to our class on Friday morning in the Goods Store at 10am. We’ll do our upmost to explore and relieve your pain and if all else fails a laugh or two will at least distract you for an hour of so! 😉 Namaste Shar 🙏🏻

I know some people think I’m a little bit off the dial when I speak about energies but I also know from interacting with others that there’s more of you tuned into this than you let on. So I’m going to dive in. 🤷‍♀️ These energies whilst they seem elusive there are moments when the unseen becomes deeply felt. These subtle currents of energy moving through our world begin to stir something inside of us.

For those of you who are energetically sensitive, this time may feel intense, unfamiliar, or even overwhelming. I know I have mentioned in previous posts, how (CME) coronal mass injections from our sun and the effects have on our planet via the Schumann resonance and of course the interconnectedness of it all. So our Sun, in all its brilliance, is not only a source of light and life, but also a powerful emitter of energy that interacts with the planet and all life in ways both physical and energetic. But particularly right now, many are feeling that interaction more than usual.

So for me I’ve noticed shifts in my body, sometimes fatigue, restlessness, heightened emotions, vivid dreams, or a sense that something is “moving” beneath the surface of my awareness that I haven’t quite caught grasp of yet.
This energetic interaction may feel more intuitive, more open, but also more vulnerable and I’m not making reference to this to create fear just awareness.

It’s more like a reminder that we are all connected, not separate from the rhythms of this reality. That our systems are responsive, alive, and attuned to frequencies far beyond what we can see.

This time in particular speaks volumes to me about the inward journey. I am not suggesting we retire like monks to a hilltop monasteries but I am recommending self-care on all levels. This is a time to slow down. To listen more closely to your body. To ground ourselves, supportive practices, daily exercise, fresh air, water, rest, quiet moments, and connection to the earth beneath your feet.

Namaste 🙏🏻

We’ve all heard the cliche “it’s not about the destination it’s the journey along the way” and of course this is applicable to yoga in particular but life in general. We’ve lost the objective when we rush from one pose to the next. Each transition is an opportunity to listen, feel and connect more consciously. Letting each pose unfold rather than be forced, avoiding comparison or expectation. Tomorrow our practice will be guided by the rhythm of our breath and the flow of poses as a conversation between body, mind and spirit. If that speaks 😉 to you currently then I invite you to come into this space ‘Goods Store’ Belturbet at 10am. 🙏🏻🧘‍♀️🙏🏻

I remember the first time I heard about ‘fascia tissue’ was during my yoga instructor training and I was fascinated. My teacher described it as a sheath of tissue that covers pretty much everything in the body. Quite often we focus on muscles, flexibility, and strength but beneath it all lies this powerful system. Fascia is the connective tissues that wraps around every muscle, bone, and organ in your body. I liken it to a spiders web that holds everything together. When it’s healthy we are fluid, mobile, and strong. When it’s tight or dehydrated, we can feel stiff, restricted and can even experience pain. Yoga poses gently stretch and hydrate fascia tissue through slow, mindful movement. Unlike quick, repetitive exercise, holding poses allows fascia to adapt and release, improving elasticity and resilience. This is why longer holds in poses like forward folds, lunges, and twists can feel so deeply satisfying they’re reaching beyond muscles into this deeper network. Honestly you just gotta love yoga 🤷‍♀️ As always please feel free to join this amazing practice with me and the gals in the Goods Store tomorrow morning at 10am, €10 pay as you go! 🧘‍♀️💜🧘‍♀️
