Yoga postures are designed to gently open the body - the hips, heart, and spine, allowing us to access a deeper sense of stillness so that the more subtle work of meditation can unfold.

In a world that is so divided, it is heart warming to witness a simple gesture of support like this.

We are all interconnected and life is so much better when we look out for one another. Research from Mental Health America points out that “those who consistently help other people experience less depression, greater calm, fewer pains and better health. They may even live longer.”

From an ancient wisdom perspective this is encapsulated in the following quote:
“The consciousness in you and the consciousness in me, apparently two, really one, seek unity and that is love.”
Nisargadatta Maharaj

This is the purpose of our Yoga practices-to come to this realisation and fully embody that wisdom in our short time here on earth.

Don’t forget to save these if you find it difficult to fall asleep at night.

Try practicing these postures before bed. They only take a few mins and can make a big difference to the quality of your sleep.

They really help to release anxiety and stress from the mind and tension from the body.

Enjoy 💕

During ancient times, 5000 years back, being connected with nature was the only way of life. It was not a therapy as such. People in those times naturally lived in alignment with nature.

Ironically today, forest bathing has become a therapy, perhaps more needed than ever before - nature’s medicine-accessible to all-free of charge.

According to Ayurveda, one of the primary ways of building Ojas (Vitality and Immunity) is to immerse oneself in nature on a regular basis. Ojas is also responsible for strength, health, long life and mental/emotional wellness.

We all know how wonderful being in nature can make us feel. The sounds of the forest, the scent of the trees, the sunlight playing through the leaves and the fresh, clean air are all soothing to the mind and senses. They give us a sense of comfort. They ease stress and worry, and help us relax and think more clearly. Being in nature can restore our mood, replenish energy and and rejuvenate our body and mind.

Forest bathing does draw a close connection to rasayana therapy - a branch of Ayurveda described in the ancient, classical literature, translated to mean “rejuvenation”.

In a meta-analyses including 13 primary studies, results indicate that relative to many more conventional alternatives, forest therapy is a more effective short term intervention for the prevention and treatment of depression in adults. (ScienceDirect)

🌸During the hours of sleep the body repairs and regenerates tissues, muscles and bones. It’s a critical time for healing.

🌸Ensure that your bedroom is free from technology as much as possible - this is a complete game changer. Smart phone usage, especially at night can disrupt sleep patterns and make for a poor nights sleep and in turn induce stress - eliminate blue light.

🌸Exposure to warmer, dimmer light in the evening can signal to your body that it’s time to wind down and prepare for sleep. Conversely, exposure to cooler, brighter light in the morning can help wake us up and increase alertness by suppressing melatonin production and boosting cortisol levels. Use blackout curtains and blinds to block out light at night.

🌸Studies have shown that cooler room temperatures promote deeper, more restorative sleep.

🌸prioritise comfort and ergonomics to improve sleep quality. This includes selecting a suitable bed size and mattress and positioning the bed away from drafts or direct sunlight. Creating a cosy reading nook will help you relax before bed or meditate in the morning. Bed side tables with in-built storage will allow you to keep items for relaxation in the evening, such as books, eye masks or essential oils, close to hand.

🌸Natural materials in mattresses and bed linen offer several health benefits compared to synthetic materials. Organic cotton, wool and silk are more breathable and have moisture-wicking properties, which lower the likelihood of skin irritation. They also reduce the risk of exposure to potentially toxic substances, such as flame retardants, formaldehyde and phthalates, which have been linked to various health issues including respiratory problems, hormone disruption and allergic reactions.

Sleep well 💕

Green, the colour of nature, symbolises growth, harmony, renewal and freshness. Incorporating green into your interior design can make your space feel more tranquil and inviting.

One of the easiest ways to bring green into your home is through the use of plants. Adding plants to a space not only adds colour but also helps to purify the air.

Adding green cushions, throws or a rug can add a pop of colour to a space without overwhelming it. Green accents can also be incorporated into the room through artwork.

The takeaway - green is a calming and soothing colour that promotes relaxation and balance. It is a versatile colour that can be paired with a wide range of other colours, making it easy to incorporate into any design scheme.

It’s definitely one of my favourite colours

“Colour is my daylong obsession, joy and torment”
(Claude Monet)

Colour influences our moods, thoughts and spiritual energy. Let’s take a look at the secret language of a selection of colours:

Primary Colours:
Red: warmth, strength, stimulating, passion;
Blue: trust, intelligence, soothing, serenity;
Yellow: confidence, self-esteem, optimism;
Pink: Femininity, love, nurturing
White: Simplicity, purity, clarity

When choosing colours for your home, think about the colours that make you feel happy.

Do you prefer warm or cool colours?

What colours make you feel calm and relaxed?

There are no wrong or right colours - use your intuition - choose a palette for your that you find comforting and nurturing. Choose colours that make you feel happy inside.
