Our 2nd Year Hub students enjoyed a social trip to Blarney Castle and Gardens during the week. Many thanks to the staff for accommodating us.

A very warm welcome to the School Food Company who have begun serving a brand new menu in our school canteen. The full menu can be viewed here and the canteen accepts card 💳 (not on phones 📵) and cash 💶

The canteen is also now serving tea and toast in the morning before school and any dietary requirements can be discussed with the canteen staff before school if you would like something special made up.

As one chapter ends for the Leaving Cert class of 2024/25, another begins for our incoming First Year students 2025/26. The warmest of welcomes to you all from all in SMGS. They spent a busy first morning in their new school getting to know their teachers and classmates. Students were met by their Year Head Mr. French and class tutors.

Along with their Year Head and tutors, Meitheal Leaders, 5th Year students trained specifically to mentor first years through their first year of secondary school will be on hand to help and guide students with any concerns they may have. We wish all our new students the very best in the coming years in SMGS.

ATTENTION SMGS PARENTS AND STUDENTS (2ND -6TH YEAR)
As you may already know, the Department of Education provide all books and stationery requirements for students in second level education. We are currently organising the vast quantities of book and stationery for the upcoming academic year. We plan to hold two distribution days for 2nd to 6th year students on Thursday the 14th and Friday the 15th of August from 9am to 3:30pm. 

Full details are outlined below:

1st year students- Parents will not need to collect books or stationery for 1st year students. They will be distributed on the student’s 1st day of school- the 22nd of August.

2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th year students:

Two distribution days

Thursday 14th of August from 9am to 3:30pm
Friday 15th of August from 9am to 3:30pm

Please note that the person collecting the books will need to know what level (higher or ordinary) your child is taking in Irish, English and Maths. 

It is essential that books are collected on these distribution days to ensure that there is no disruption to teaching and learning when the new term begins. 

In exceptional circumstances where a parent/guardian cannot make these two distribution days, please contact the distribution organiser Michelle Crotty by email at mcrotty@smgsblarney.ie. There will be limited times when we can arrange collection prior to these days outlined above.

Wishing our Junior Cycle and Leaving Cert students all the very best ahead of the start of their exams this morning. Remember to eat well, rest enough during the exam period, sleep is just as important as study for sitting a successful paper and above all....don’t panic! Keep your cool, you’ve got this!💪🏼 Good luck all!
