Slí Na Ruadh Conor Ruadh B.S.c (Psych) D.HP A.D.HP 100hr Dharana Method Meditation Teacher specialises in Hypnoth

‘I believe that in today’s day and age, we have all identified too much with our thoughts and thinking minds. We have forgotten who we really are, what we are capable of and how we can truly attain peace and contentment. I believe our thinking minds only carry us so far and that we have to get out of our minds and into our hearts in order to find true peace. Meditation is a beautiful practice to b

ring us home to our hearts.’

When we begin to connect more and more to our hearts each and everyday, we can begin to cultivate self love, self compassion and by beginning to love ourselves again we can begin to love everyone else around us. We cannot expect to be caring, loving, compassionate beings in the world if we can’t love and have compassion for ourselves.

'I believe we have to strike a balance in therapy between our past and issues in our present day. We must work with what is bothering us day to day but also acknowledge our past and where our issues originate from. However, at the foundation of my work, regardless of what clients come to me with, is teaching them how to relax. Through hypnosis and meditation we can really drop into a very deep and profound state of relaxation in which great change can occur. Most of our problems result from our inability to cope with challenges in our everyday lives, one significant way to overcome this is to give ourselves time to genuinely relax, reset and reconnect to who we really are. '

The ethos behind Conor's work is always to find the root cause of why we feel the way we feel, no matter how big or small our issues are, there is a reason why we are having these feelings of anxiety, depression, worry or why we are smoking, excessively drinking or eating, insomnia etc. Once you can get to the root cause of the issue, the symptoms will alleviate themselves.

He works with the idea of cause and effect, that we must treat the cause of the issues rather than just simply treating the symptoms themselves. This process involves the client and therapist working together to bring about positive changes in how the client thinks, feels and acts.

My work aims to brings us back into our natural state of stillness, giving people permission to relax, release, reconnect and heal. By doing this we can reconnect with who we really are, not just who we think we 'should be'. Conor has a B.S.c Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of Ulster and received his Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy from the Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (ICHP) and is qualified as a 100hr Dharana Method Meditation Teacher.

Who wants to talk about anxiety? 🙃⁣

Really looking forward to this workshop coming up where myself and will be providing some much needed relief from anxiety! ⁣

Mark will be guiding us through some breathwork, yoga asana poses and meditation that specifically help and alleviate stress and anxiety in the body and mind. ⁣

I’ll be talking about anxiety, how it works, how to work with it, practices I use with my hypnotherapy clients to overcome anxiety and a guided hypnosis inspired meditation 🧘‍♂️

Our goal is to allow people to come away with several tools to deal with anxiety and to be honest, anxiety is a part of life. You’re not supposed to ‘destroy’ or ‘eliminate’ it entirely because it serves a purpose like all things. What we want is a life in which it’s not debilitating..ideally we may still experience some anxieties at certain times BUT we still can do the things that we want without anxiety stopping us! 💪⁣

Should be a lovely, relaxing, nourishing evening✨⁣

Dm to book your spot 🙏⁣.
⁣. Ps this will actually run from 6.30pm-9pm!

Gaeilge Reconnection Workshop 📣

My intention with this workshop is to first and foremost, invite you all for a brief pause at the start of this year to simply rest, recuperate and to gain some reprieve from this mad world sometimes.

Secondly, with the coming of spring, of Imbolc and Brigid arriving once more as An Cailleach prepares for rest, this is a great time for the beginning of something, new growth and igniting what we want in our lives. Some things that may have been dormant and resting for the winter period, such as our relationships with the irish language which may have been ‘dormant’, ‘resting’ for many winters but is not lost.

My goal with this workshop is to hopefully mend and heal old parts of ourselves that were hurt, shamed, embarrassed, disconnected in some way to the Irish language. There are sadly so many reasons why we have become disconnected to our native tongue, some were imposed on us through oppression ancestrally but some are self imposed!

I wanted to incorporate our native tongue into a workshop but in a way that is inclusive to all, so this workshop will include light breathwork, two meditations, the first being a journey somewhat to heal, reconnect to your wild inner irish child and the second meditation will be a loving kindness as gaeilge and maybe some lively discussion over our lovely language and how we can invite An Gaeilge into our daily lives and modern spiritual practices.

Most importantly, this workshop is for anyone regardless of your level of irish, from your full on fluent speakers to those with an interest in picking up the language. Both meditation will be bilingual so a nice mix of english and irish so all can enjoy it.

‘Gach lá ar gach bealach, táim ag éirí níos fearr agus níos fearr’. ⁣

‘Everyday in every way, I’m getting better and better’. ⁣

This ‘dearbhú’(affirmation) is inspired by one of the pioneers of affirmations Emile Coue who was a French pharmacist (1857-1926) who noticed that his customers got better the more he emphasised the power of the medicine they bought from him. ⁣

From his findings came the idea of auto-suggestion and he believed that when willpower and the imagination were combined the results were unstoppable. ⁣

He was one of the first people to argue that "you are what you think". When you think about something, your mind forms an image of it, and your unconscious mind will strive to achieve that image. If your thoughts are always dark and negative and self-critical, then your mind will tend to dwell on that, and make you unhappy. ⁣

This is where he developed this famous affirmation 'Every day in every way I am getting better and better'. ⁣

His patients who utilised this affirmation improved in all areas! ⁣

Although hypnosis was known to be very effective at creating change by gaining access to the subconscious mind, his work showed that you don't have to access the unconscious mind to make changes, you can also make changes through the conscious mind. ⁣

With affirmations, people are giving themselves suggestions while fully conscious of what they are doing. Coue taught that willpower is not enough. No amount of willpower is going to overcome negative thinking. He emphasized the need to imagine what it is that you want first. Then think of ways you can achieve that. Finally you reinforce it with an affirmation. ⁣

‘Tharraing anáil agus cruthaigh spás ionat féin.’ 🌬

Take a breath and create space within yourself. 💨

I nearly always post things that are relevant in my life or something I needed to hear myself. This was one of them today.

When we genuinely, consciously breathe..we have the opportunity to create space within ourselves. To bring some clarity, some reality to the moment and bring ourselves right back to this moment..instead of the guilt/shame/regret of the past or the dread/worry/anxiety of the future!

Eckhart Tolle puts it slightly more eloquently than myself..

‘One conscious breath is enough to make some space where before there was uninterrupted succession of one thought after another. One conscious breath or two or three would have been better taken many time the day is an excellent way of bringing space into your life.

Being aware of your breath forces you into the present moment- the key to all Inner transformation. Whenever you are conscious of the breath you are absolutely present, you may also notice that you cannot think and be aware of your breathing, conscious breathing stops your mind. But far from being in a trance or half asleep, you are fully awake and highly alert. You're not falling below thinking but rising above it and if you look more closely you will find that those two things, coming fully into the present moment and ceasing thinking without loss of consciousness are actually one and the same- creating space within oneself’.

Ar aon nós(anyway) lads, tóg go bog é an Nollaig seo(take it easy this Christmas).

Solstice blessings to you all 🌞⁣

Although I would have much rather been at Newgrange to mark the day that’s in it, I was up to my eyes in IKEA flat packed furniture and trips to the dump instead. I’m sure my ancestors had a laugh. ⁣

However, inspired by a beautiful Sanskrit Mantra, I kept the sun in my heart throughout the day. ⁣

‘Aditya Hridayam Punyam Sarv Shatru Bena Shanam’. ⁣

"ALL EVIL VANISHES FROM LIFE FOR HIM WHO KEEPS THE SUN IN HIS HEART".⁣

There is something powerful about knowing we’re coming out of the darkness now, out of the womb of ‘máthair an Domhain’, out of Mother Earth. ⁣

Not easy out there at the moment and hard to see anyway way out at times but the light is coming and as they say, ‘it’s always darkest before the dawn’. ⁣

Keep her lit mo chairde💚⁣

It's funny how life happens sometimes, we can have all the best laid plans and think we know exactly what we want or where we are going on our path and then you look up and find yourself somewhere completely different.

If you had of told me 4 years ago that I would be speaking the Irish language every single day, I would have said you were getting me mixed up with someone else, a REAL gaeilgóir maybe, not me!

I went to a Gaelscoil when I was younger, so I've always had the language but as I grew into my teens, I never really appreciated it. To be honest, in secondary school I absolutely coasted it for the first few years because of the Irish I had already. I thought I was a fecking great lad until I got to Leaving cert and realised it wasn't so easy now and I had to actually put work in, work I didn't really end up doing.

Fast forward to university and meeting one of my closest friends who was studying Irish( literally years ahead of me) at the time so talk about coming from a big fish in a small pond to a tiny speck of a fish in a gigantic ocean!

So although I got to speak Irish again with him, I felt such a sense of insecurity and shame about speaking Irish because I thought I wasn't 'good enough' and had next to no confidence speaking.

It was just when my son was born I thought why can't we raise him bilingual, simply put I just began speaking just Irish to him and my partner Colete just spoke English. 4 years on I'm much more confident speaking Irish and not because I have some excellent level of Irish but because I just don't care anymore about being perfect!

Even the idea of a Gaeilgeoir I would have never accepted but we now know a Gaeilgeoir is someone who is an Irish speaker or learning.

Sure we're all learning Irish so we're ALL Gaeilgeoirs! 💚

So use whatever you can, don't worry about it being perfect!

I'm just riding this wave of An Gaeilge and hoping you all are getting something out of these recent 'dearbhú' or affirmations as gaeilge.

My intention is to invite our language back into yoga, meditation etc incorporating our tongue into our modern spirituality!

Agairim grásta Brigid.’⁣

‘I invoke the grace of Brigid’. (insert here any God/Goddesses/Deity you feel called to). ⁣

In the vedic culture of ancient india and in the world of mantra and their respective deities, they say the name and the named are not different..in essence, the word for a deity such as Ram, Krishna, Hanuman, Ganesh etc are not different from the actual gods themselves..they even say the words are more powerful than the gods themselves.⁣

So when we invoke these gods by chanting/meditation we are invoking their power and love. ⁣

As such, it is the same with our own Celtic myths, stories of Irish gods and goddesses. When we journey and reconnect with the likes of Brigid, Cu chulainn, Queen Maebh, Lúgh, Mannannan mac lir etc we are invoking their power and wisdom.⁣

Happy invoking 🌀⁣

‘Go raibh mé sásta, go raibh mé maith, go raibh mé sábháilte, go raibh mé suaimhneach’. 🙏

‘May I be happy, may I be well, may I be safe, may I be peaceful and at ease. ‘

Little bit of Metta (loving kindness) meditation inspiration for this evening. 🌀

The practice of Metta meditation is a beautiful support to other awareness practices. One recites specific words and phrases evoking a "boundless warm-hearted feeling."

The strength of this feeling is not limited to or by family, religion, or social class. We begin with our self and gradually extend the wish for well-being happiness to all beings.

The first post is for our lovely selves and the second is for all beings. ✨

Being truthful, we're all completely self-absorbed in our own worlds almost the entire day, usually falling into the mindset of 'me first, gimme gimme' etc or basically just worrying constantly about ourselves. This isn't a conscious decision really on our part, it's just the way our individualistic society molds us for the most part and/or our laundry list of insecurities that we all carry the burden of.

I love incorporating this practice at the end of my meditations so that firstly, I show compassion to myself but more importantly, shift my awareness to other beings around the world that definitely are needing some loving right now.

Hope this helps somewhat.

05/12/2021

We've recently been blessed to have bought our first house and although it's been a joyful experience so far, it got me thinking of the importance of rest!⁣

So of course, it's been an exciting time since we got the keys last week but I've found myself like a mad man going 100 miles an hour, painting rooms, building furniture etc since then and barely a second to sit down for a cup of tea. Genuinely, one of the evenings I had to sit down because I was getting lightheaded from going so much. For fecksake this is supposed to be a fun time.😂⁣

Anyway, it highlighted to me how when something is of importance to us, if there is something in our lives that we have really 'wanted' such as a dream business, first home, new relationship, children etc..we will sometimes do anything to get to that goal.⁣

However, in that pursuit of what you want, we can burn ourselves out so that by the time we have what we 'always wanted'.. we're broken shells of people. How many times have we heard this story of the businessman/woman who sacrifices everything who ends up on top in order to look back and realise the damage they had done to their close family and friends.⁣

So as always it comes back to balance and giving ourselves time to rest and digest..literally and metaphorically, digest what's going on around us..even when it's what we call 'positive' things going on in our lives.⁣

So I'm taking the next few days off for my son's birthday and just to rest! Rome wasn't built in a day as they say and all we can ever do is sometimes stop for even a moment and simply enjoy the process and recognise how far we've come. ⁣

Painting rooms, IKEA furniture and radiators that need to be bled can wait!⁣

Enjoy this picture of me the next few days 😀⁣

Let me walk lightly on the earth.⁣

This ‘dearbhú’ or affirmation was inspired by this beautiful prayer spoken by Hindus, asking forgiveness for stepping on Mother Earth each morning.✨⁣

‘Samudra Vasane Devi,⁣

Finding our own way 🌀⁣

‘Should I jump in the freezing river? Maybe I’ll do a sweatlodge? Definitely getting up early tomorrow to do yoga and meditation.. I am tired though and would love a lie in.. s**t I need a guru, all the books say I need a guru! They also say the guru is all within.. which is it😂 Ok I’ve got to pick one lineage and surrender to that.. but what If I change my mind next year I barely know what I’m doing tomorrow let alone next year! Can I even sing and chant Mantra if I’m from Ireland, am I committing cultural appropriation? Definitely want to avoid that!’ And on an and it goes…⁣

👆Please tell me this isn’t just my thought process sometimes😂⁣

It’s feckin hard to keep up with all that’s so called ‘beneficial’ for us and what we ‘should be’ doing. ⁣

I think as long as your intention is good(like most things in life), why can’t we use different practices from around the world. ⁣

Throughout various culture and in indigenous people, we’ve seen similar if not the same belief systems, spiritual practices and mythology which as Jung suggested, could all form part of the collective unconscious. ⁣

Basically, F**k it. There’s so much noise out there and to be honest I’ve found myself literally lost in my mind trying to find a balance between purifying myself with spiritual practices and then just living life, having the craic etc. Trying to constantly compare myself to enlightened beings is probably not the most realistic goal. 😂 ⁣

Our own Sídhe folk were seen in the past as fully realised beings. Even the word Sídhe is the same word as Siddi ; which itself means supernatural/magical powers attained through meditation and yoga and even the Buddhas birth name was Siddharta Gautema. ⁣

When a person went to the Sídhe to seek advice, they always laughed at our seemingly insignificant worries. They found it hilarious that we were so attached to money and time. They wanted us to laugh, sing and dance more and not take life so feckin serious!⁣

Why not just simply do what works for you and makes you happy as long as it’s not hurting anyone else. ⁣

‘Glacaim liom féin, díreach mar a tá mé’. (I accept myself..just the way I am). ⁣💚

One of the toughest things to do out there.. to really accept ourselves for who we are. Most of our behaviours, positive or negative, are usually driven by our belief of ‘not enoughness’. ⁣

Imagine a world where we all knew deep within our bones.. from the moment of birth.. that we were perfect.. just the way we are 🌀

05/11/2021

When clients come to see me for hypnotherapy I usually ask them do they know anything about hypnosis to which the reply is usually ‘Not a clue’. ⁣

So it’s always so important that I fully explain what hypnosis and hypnotherapy is…and what it isn’t! ⁣

Hypnosis is simply a very pleasant state of relaxation, in which the conscious mind becomes less dominant and the powerful subconscious mind is more directly accessed.⁣

As soon as our attention is split, we enter a trance like/hypnotic state. And, though you may not be aware of it, it probably happens to you every day! ⁣

Hypnosis is natural, and happens all the time, especially within any therapeutic context in which the focus is internalised and the room is defocused or 'forgotten'.⁣

Think of how many times we’ve been completely engrossed in a good book or movie and not heard someone come into the room! Or better yet been day dreaming in class and the teacher has been calling your name for ages! ⁣

A client described her first experience of hypnosis in a very clever way. She said it was like reading a good book while on a train.⁣

She knows she is on a train surrounded by strangers but in her head her imagination has created a different world as the plot of the book plays out, and that is the world she is concentrating on. Even though her imagination is keeping her in this world she knows she can come back to reality whenever she needs to so she wonʹt miss her stop.⁣

🚨Myths and misconceptions of hypnosis.. the little secret is….All hypnosis, is self-hypnosis! I cannot "make" you do anything against your will. ⁣

You’re in full control, will remember everything, you’re not asleep but fully aware and your not going to reveal all your secrets. ⁣

So if you feel called to try hypnotherapy DM me for more info 🙏⁣
