As many of you know, I have been working with Donegal Domestic Violence Services - DDVS for the past several months. I am so excited to be spearheading this incredible initiative alongside Donegal Sports Partnership’s Therese Laverty! I am using behavioural principles to help our vulnerable populations break the cycles of trauma and regain excitement and control over their lives. We have been able to help the communities identify barriers to their accessing these vital community services and lessen their isolation and the progress that has been made is invaluable! We are so proud of each and every one of them and cannot wait to see how far they go!

This is so true! Eye contact should never be a goal.

Eye contact, who’s it for? It’s not for the autistic child. It's for the recipient. It’s for their own validation to reassure them that you know they exist. That you are aware they are speaking that you comply. That you acknowledge them.

This could be life changing for some children and their families. A young lady (pre-teen) I used to work with recently was able to get a service dog and the effects have changed everything for her and her family. Absolutely worth looking into!

I’ve met some of the most interesting and awesome people through my work and I am always saying to my clients that I just love the way their brains think! Take the time to really see our friends and family members who have autism and you’ll be able to connect and celebrate all the unique things that make them so special to us!
