Carol Beatty - Play Therapist - Parent Child Attachment Play Facilitator Seirbhís dátheangach i Teiripe Súgartha do pháistí, daoine óga agus a dteaghlaigh. I am mammy to four children and wife to Paul. Fáilte Isteach!

Carol offers a bilingual Play&Creative Arts and Attachment Play Therapy Service for children, young people and their families. I have worked in the early years sector for over 17years. Becoming a play therapist was always my dream and I am proud that I am now making that dream a reality. I am passionate about promoting the importance of play for children, young people, teenagers and adults alike.

Like most, I have encountered my fair share of ups and downs in my life. I have no regrets but rather see them as life experiences which I have used as stepping stones to bring me to a better place. Working with children is a rewarding profession. I now feel very priviliged that I am in a position to offer therapeutic support to children, young people and their families who may find themselves struggling for one reason or another.

A Moment for Reflection

Often, as I arrive to set up for clinic, I have people smile and say, “Oh, my child would love to see you coming with all those toys!” It’s a comment I hear so often, and while it’s said with kindness, it brings up something important I’d love to share.

Yes! Play is the language of children, and the toys I carry are the tools of that language.
However, therapy isn’t always “fun.” It’s not just playing - it’s purposeful, relational work. It can be challenging, emotional, even uncomfortable at times, especially when a child is navigating big feelings or past hurts.

And here's something powerful: the most healing and meaningful play doesn’t always happen in a therapy room. It happens at home - in the small, everyday moments of connection between a child and their parent or caregiver.

So next time you see those toys, know they’re not just for entertainment. They’re invitations - to safety, to expression, to healing. And every parent already holds the most important tool of all - Relationship.

Exciting New Chapter Begins!

I’m absolutely delighted and deeply honoured to be in a position to begin my Master’s journey in Practice-Based Play Therapy - an area I am incredibly passionate about.

Even more humbling, I have been awarded the Jeff Thomas Bursary Award in recognition of my chosen research topic. To be acknowledged in this way is both a privilege and a powerful motivator as I step into this next phase of learning and growth.

Grateful for the opportunity, and excited for what lies ahead!
