As we exit 2024 I wanted to express my gratitude to all my clients and customers and local clubs who I work with, as well as not so local sports scenes I am involved in. Your continued support over the years I’ve been in business is appreciated and I am grateful for the opportunities that come my way always. 2025 brings with it some more new adventures for me and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in 😁
A big thanks to my little family cheering me all the way. 🙌

Rotater Cuff injuries
The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that surround the shoulder joint, keeping the head of your upper arm bone firmly within the shallow socket of the shoulder. A rotator cuff injury can cause a dull ache in the shoulder, which often worsens when you try to sleep on the involved side
Rotator cuff injuries occur most often in people who repeatedly perform overhead motions in their jobs or sports. Examples include painters, carpenters, and people who play baseball or tennis. The risk of rotator cuff injury also increases with age.
Many people recover from rotator cuff disease with physical therapy exercises that improve flexibility and strength of the muscles surrounding the shoulder joint.
Sometimes, rotator cuff tears may occur as a result of a single injury. In those circumstances, medical care should be provided as soon as possible. Extensive rotator cuff tears may require surgical repair, transfer of alternative tendons or joint replacement.
Symptoms
The pain associated with a rotator cuff injury may:
• Be described as a dull ache deep in the shoulder
• Disturb sleep, particularly if you lie on the affected shoulder
• Make it difficult to comb your hair or reach behind your back
• Be accompanied by arm weakness
Causes
Rotator cuff disease may be the result of either a substantial injury to the shoulder or to progressive degeneration or wear and tear of the tendon tissue. Repetitive overhead activity or heavy lifting over a prolonged period of time may irritate or damage the tendon.
Risk factors
The following factors may increase your risk of having a rotator cuff injury:
• Age.
• Certain sports.
• Construction jobs.
• Family history.
Complications
Without treatment, rotator cuff problems may lead to permanent loss of motion or weakness, and may result in progressive degeneration of the shoulder joint. Although resting your shoulder is necessary for your recovery, keeping your shoulder immobilized for a prolonged time can cause the connective tissue enclosing the joint to become thickened and tight (frozen shoulder).

What is Lateral and Medial Epicondylitis?
Lateral epicondylitis, or “tennis elbow,” is an inflammation of the tendons that join the forearm muscles on the outside of the elbow. Medial epicondylitis, or “golfer’s elbow,” is an inflammation of the tendons that attach your forearm muscles to the inside of the bone at your elbow.
What causes these injuries?
Both tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow typically result from repetitive, forceful gripping and lifting. The conditions can be caused by sports other than golf and tennis, as well as work-related activities that involve heavy use of the wrist and forearm muscles (such as the movements of plumbers, painters, carpenters, and butchers).
What are the symptoms of tennis elbow?
Common signs and symptoms of tennis elbow include:
• Pain or burning on the outer part of your elbow
• Weak grip strength (such as holding a racquet, turning a wrench, or shaking hands)
The pain may be mild at first and gradually worsen over time. There is often no specific injury associated with the start of symptoms.

𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀⁣

This is the thickest tendon in the body. It transmits the forces created by the calf muscles and allows us to propel ourselves forward (or upwards) during movement.

The achilles has some huge loads going through it on a daily basis.

With these loads in mind, it is no wonder overuse/overload injuries are common complaints. Achilles Tendinopathy (traditionally called tendinitis) is especially common among runners. ⁣

Optimal loading is probably the single most important factor with regard to achilles tendon injury. Often the cause of pain and injury here is as a result of doing too much too soon after doing too little for too long. ⁣

Of course there are numerous other factors that feed into the equation here, such as strength, running/walking gait, recovery and nutrition.⁣

Achilles tendinopathy can be a debilitating injury, but with the correct management and definitely some patience it can be conquered and resolved.⁣

If you are having trouble with your achilles, get in touch! ⁣

Feel free to share to anyone else who might be interested!⁣

⚠️ Musculoskeletal Pain
Musculoskeletal pain affects the bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves. It can be acute (having a rapid onset with severe symptoms) or chronic (long-lasting). Musculoskeletal pain can be localised in one area, or widespread.

ℹ️Lower back pain is the most common type of musculoskeletal pain. Other common types include tendonitis, myalgia (muscle pain), and stress fractures.

🔴Types of musculoskeletal pain

➡️Bone pain: This is usually deep, penetrating, or dull. It most commonly results from injury. It is important to be sure that the pain is not related to a fracture or tumor.

➡️Muscle pain: This is often less intense than bone pain, but it can still be debilitating. Muscle pain can be caused by an injury, an autoimmune reaction, loss of blood flow to the muscle, infection, or a tumor. The pain can also include muscle spasms and cramps.

➡️Tendon and ligament pain: Pains in the tendons or ligaments are often caused by injuries, including sprains. This type of musculoskeletal pain often becomes worse when the affected area is stretched or moved.

➡️Fibromyalgia: This is a condition that may cause pain in the muscles, tendons, or ligaments. The pain is usually in multiple locations and can be difficult to describe. Fibromyalgia is usually accompanied by other symptoms.

➡️Joint pain: Joint injuries and diseases usually produce a stiff, aching, “arthritic” pain. The pain may range from mild to severe and worsens when moving the joint. The joints may also swell. Joint inflammation (arthritis) is a common cause of pain.

➡️”Tunnel” syndromes: This refers to musculoskeletal disorders that cause pain due to nerve compression. The disorders include carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, and tarsal tunnel syndrome. The pain tends to spread along the path supplied by the nerve and may feel like burning. These disorders are often caused by overuse.

What a brilliant experience over the last few months working with the Irish U20 Rugby Team. From start to finish I was surrounded by exceptionally hard working people who gave it their all the whole way through the competition. There were highs and lows but the resilience and persistence from everyone was amazing to experience and be a part of.

It was an absolute privilege to be part of the back-room team working alongside some of the brightest minds in professional rugby. I learned so much from each of them and made some friends for life in the process.

I feel extremely grateful for such a wonderful experience. Bring on the Junior World Cup
