Feel-Good Friday 🤩

We’re so happy to share some lovely news from one of our first clients, Matthew!

Matthew came to us almost a year ago looking for support into employment. His determination stood out from the beginning!
Not only did Matthew go on to successfully secure full-time employment, but he’s also been accepted onto an internship in the Amazon rainforest doing conservation work! 🌍

We couldn’t be happier for you and can’t wait to see pictures from your adventure!

💡What happens if you start working while on Disability Allowance?

If you get Disability Allowance or Blind Pension, you can still work and keep some of your benefits. Here’s how it works:

You can earn up to €165 per week from work without it affecting your payment.

If you earn more than €165, half of the amount between €165 and €375 is not counted when checking your means.

This means you can work and still keep your Disability Allowance or Blind Pension, depending on your earnings.

Example:
John is 25 years old and gets Disability Allowance (DA) of €244 every week.
He works 2 days a week at the cinema.
He works 10 hours each week.
He gets paid the minimum wage of €13.50 per hour.
So, John earns €135 from his job every week (10 hours × €13.50).

John still gets his Disability Allowance of €244.
If you add his Disability Allowance (€244) and his earnings from work (€135),
His total money for the week is €379. 🙌

Want to know how working might affect your payments?

Use the Benefit of Work Estimator to see what you can earn and still keep your benefits.

🧶✨ Yarn Bomb Project ✨🧶

If you’re around Carndonagh this month, be sure to check out the surprises and beautiful decorations around the Diamond and town centre.

We are so thankful for our incredible volunteers who worked so hard over the past month to bring colour and creativity to Carndonagh.

Next year, we’ll have the whole of Inishowen involved — watch this space!

And yes… we really missed a trick not calling this Carn Yarn!

This project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland, through the Department of Social Protection and the European Union.

'We loved the idea of spreading joy and colour through creativity. Everyone in the yarn project had something to offer, and it really shows'
