St. Ciaran's Services

Ciaran’s Services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities was established in Carrick-on-Shannon 30 years ago to provide services in the Leitrim/West-Cavan area, under the auspices of North West parents and friends association. Ciarans’s school was opened; over the years this has evolved to St. Ciaran’s Day Centre. In 1998 sunbeam house respite house was opened, in 2005 sunbeam lodge

community group home was opened. Over the years the needs of the people attending the service have changed as they have gotten older and as new people have started in the service. Staff, parents and friends of St. Ciaran’s Services decided that a major fundraising campaign was needed in order to provide funds to develop a purpose built respite service that will address the current and future needs for children and adults with intellectual disability.
