Thinking about Treating Trauma? Here's What the Research Says

If you're a mental health professional working with trauma, new research on treatments for PTSD offers a fascinating insight! A major study comparing two leading therapies, trauma-focused CBT (tfCBT) and EMDR, found that when it comes to PTSD recovery rates, they are both highly effective. This is great news, as it gives professionals more flexibility and clients more choice.
What's even more interesting is the deeper finding: while both therapies are effective for PTSD, tfCBT showed a stronger impact on reducing the symptoms of anxiety and depression that often accompany trauma. This is an important distinction that highlights the need for a comprehensive, nuanced understanding of how different therapies work.

At PCI College, our MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is built on this very principle. We teach you to master the core skills that drive results and to think critically about the latest research, so you can make smarter, more effective choices for your clients. Join a programme that will empower you to provide truly holistic, evidence-based care.

I went into a phone shop the other day to ask for this to be really disappointed to hear that they’d never even heard of it. I feel parents need the choice in order to make more informed decisions with our children’s safety.
Samsung Balance phone. The perfect phone for your teen to reduce screen time, protect from harm and help reduce anxiety, depression, feating disorders, self esteem and confidence issues, pornographic materials and groomers access through social media.
**I am in no way affiliated with this company, it just makes sense to make better choices for our children when giving them access to a phone.

☀️ Grounding 🌱

By Amy Geary!

Grounding is all about pressing “pause” when life feels like it’s spinning too fast. It gently brings your attention back to the present, helping you feel calmer and more steady in your own skin.

A quick way to try it is the 5-4-3-2-1 method:

🌱 Look around and find 5 things you can see

🌱 Notice 4 things you can touch

🌱 Listen for 3 things you can hear

🌱 Identify 2 things you can smell

🌱 And focus on 1 thing you can taste

It’s simple, takes less than a minute, and can turn a scattered moment into one that feels grounded and safe.

🤔 Do you know much about your attachment style?

Understanding your attachment style is crucial for developing and maintaining healthy relationships. It offers insights into your emotional patterns, communication styles, and how you navigate intimacy and conflict.

By recognizing your attachment style, you can identify potential relationship challenges, improve communication, and build stronger, more fulfilling connections.

There are four main attachment styles: secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized. Secure attachment is characterized by a sense of safety and trust in relationships, while the other three are considered insecure, with varying degrees of anxiety and avoidance.

Raising awareness saves lives. 💚

A study in Irish schools showed that teaching young people about mental health and signposting them to crisis mental health services reduced su***de and self-harm behaviour. Because when we talk, listen, and act early, we change outcomes.

With Samaritans Awareness Day on the horizon this week, let’s remember:

Samaritans Awareness Day is coming up on the 24th July 💚

We are standing with those who may be struggling in silence. 💚
