Appreciation post

The end of season '24 with Castlerea Celtic I asked could I come along to get some experience while I was coming to the end of my college year and of course the lads said yes.
I was a nervous wreck with it being the first team I would have been with.
Come season 24/25 to be asked back to be the team physio was brilliant and it made me more comfortable with my role and stronger as a sports Therapist.

I wanna say thank you to Castlerea Celtic FC committee, Padraic Cryan, Jason McCartney, Callum Manhire, and Damo Freyne for giving me this opportunity 😀
Also to the lads, ye are a great bunch, this season didn't go the way ye planned but next year I can see ye lifting some silverware.

Brilliant course for anyone who is interested in the field of physiotherapy or working with teams.

Study Sports Therapy and Physiotherapy Assistant at Cavan Institute

In this course, stu­dents study a range of sub­jects, with a particular emphasis being placed on anatomy, physio assistant theory and sports massage. Throughout the Sports Therapy and Physiotherapy Assistant (Year 1) course, students will be required to work alongside a variety of sporting organisations as part of their course work.

At the end of this course, students receive a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Community Health Services, ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Sports Therapy Massage, ITEC Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction and PHECC Cardiac First Response Community Training (CFR-C) Patient Moving and Handling.

Our men's team returned to action for the first time in 2025 with a win at home to athenrys second team in a largely competitive game.

We took the lead early in the first half when Chris Kellys' corner was met by the head of Johnny Hester to give us a 1-0 lead. The lead only lasted 8 minutes, however, as a breakaway from our own corner resulted in the athenry no. 8 firing home. Despite creating a host of chances before half time, it remained level at the break.

Into the second half, with the rustiness from returning to action after 6 weeks well and truly shaken off, we started to up the gears and fired home 2 quickfire goals courtesy of Oisin O'Farrell and Adam McDermott to put us in control, McDermott then got his second of the day with a rocket from all of 30 yards to seemingly put the game to bed. It was shortly after we missed a penalty to make it 5-1, that the away side got a goal back to open up the tie again at 4-2. In a minute of madness, Athenry then found a third to really bring the tie to life. A fantastic save from keeper Dylan Kelly preceeded Cizzy Kelly firing home a penalty to put the tie to bed, but with still enough time to go the returning Gerry Ward had time to score a brilliant diving header to wrap up the victory.

Thanks to all the supporters at the game and we'll done to players and management as we look forward to the draw for the last 16🙌💪

Day 4 & 5 of the 75 soft challenge.

Day 4: I woke up feeling sick which I actually don't think I left my bed at all so my steps aren't very good but I got my water in and read 10 pages of

Day 5: woke up feeling a little better 😌 read 10 pages, ate well (but still not as good as I could have) I got a 40 mins workout in, which I done on YouTube.
Onto day 6 we go
