The death has occurred of John Carroll, Glassdrummon, Canningstown, Cootehill, Co. Cavan Thursday January 1st 2026 peacefully in the exceptional care of the staff at Rossmore Unit, Monaghan General Hospital.


Predeceased by his parents Annie and Matt, brothers Matt and Jimmy, sister-in-law Annamai Carroll, brothers-in-law Pat McGee and Felix McCabe.


Deeply regretted by his loving wife Margaret, sisters Nan McGee, Maura (Peter Smyth), Sue (Patsy Clarke), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at Mullen’s Funeral Home Cootehill (H16 FD25) this Friday, January 2nd, from 4pm to 7pm. Removal leaving Mullen’s Funeral Home this Saturday morning at 11.15am to arrive at St Brigid’s Church, East Knockbride, A82 H982 (via Dernakesh NS, Wilson Cross) to arrive for 12 noon Funeral Mass, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

The death has occurred of John Scorr, 62 Drumnaveil, Cootehill, Co.Cavan, December 26th 2025 peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home. Predeceased by his daughters Helen and Lena, parents Owen and Olive, brothers and sisters.

The death has occurred of Fr. Eugene King OMI, Ottawa, Canada, formerly of Drumhirk, Cootehill, Co. Cavan, peacefully in hospital in Ottawa on Thursday 18th December 2025.

Predeceased by parents Robert and Annie, brothers Gerard and Robert, and sister Mary. Gene will be sadly missed by his nieces Alexandra, Louise and Bernadette, nephews Robert and Stephen, cousins from the King and Dowd families, and many dear colleagues and friends.

Predeceased by her husband Patrick Joseph, Parents James and Kathleen Fitzpatrick, Brothers Jimmy, Hubert and Pa**ie, Sisters Gretta and Joan. Predeceased by her husband Francis, Parents Robert and Annie, Brothers Gerard and Robert. Mary will be sadly missed by her Brother Eugene, nieces and nephews, neighbours and friends.
