Constipation is when you find it hard to defecate or you go to the toilet less often than usual. This can be very impactful on life through cramping, pain and even affect mood.

Three remedies that may be helpful:

Alumina: Stools present as hard and knotted. They are painful to pass and leave a residual pain. Dehydration present and seen more commonly in the elderly.

Nux Vomica: Constant states of urging with no result or incomplete bowel movements. Constriction of the re**um. Client presents as impatient with a sedentary lifestyle.

O***m Pav: For constipation were the bowel has stopped due to an anesthetic. Stools present as round hard and dark in colour. Also helpful for constipation from
fright or fear.

A homeopathic consultation would be helpful to determine potential underlying causes for constipation. However, it is important that if you are experiencing high levels of pain or bleeding to consult your GP or local emergancy department.

The season has begun to inspired some of my clients to get stuck into their gardening. Despite being a very therapeutic task for many, gardening can result in some small injuries such as and .

Cuts and grazes are a split of the skin caused by an impact of some sort. This can lead to infection and bruising which makes it essential to run it under some water to keep the area clean.

Some remedies that are helpful include:

🍃 Calendula: remedy number one for cuts and grazes as it helps to heal the skin.

🍃Ledum: Helps prevent infection. The skin may present as discoloured and seem swollen with a feeling of numbness. Better with a cold compress and worse with touch and heat.

🍃Arnica: a popular remedy for wounds were brusing is notable. Worse with movement and touch.

🍃Hypericum: Sharp pains associated with nerve damage. Seen mainly in injuries to the ends of the fingers.

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day 🫶

Studies have found that acts of kindness are linked to increased feelings of well-being (Mental Health Foundation).

Whatever you can manage today is good enough.
It could be as simple as making someone a cuppa.

When you hear that discouraging voice in your head, tell yourself something positive — you deserve kindness too 💕

Skylark Health - Laura Oestreich MA, BSc (Hons) Hom., Lic, ISH, IS Hom

Skylark Health is a homeopathic practice located in an idyllic and unspoiled valley between

Cuilcagh, Iron and Ben mountain. Homeopathy is a natural system of medicine that has been used in many countries for over 200 years. Homeopathic medicines are prepared from naturally occurring substances and help us to address the root cause of symptoms in order to overcome disease by stimulating the body’s natural healing abilities. Homeopathic medicines are safe and effective for the treatment of both chronic disease and acute symptoms.

Growing up in an alpine ski resort in Switzerland, Laura developed a keen interest and admiration for nature since a young age. She started off studying languages at the French Universities of Bordeaux and Toulouse, and subsequently obtained a master’s degree in specialised translation at the University of Geneva (Switzerland). She worked translating texts for different health-related organisations, including the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health. However, it was not until a close family member got ill that her interest in natural therapies truly awakened. Homeopathic medicines work by stimulating the person’s vitality. It is vitality that keeps us alive, healthy and in good spirit. However, when the vitality is depleted, weakened or imbalanced “dis-ease”, i.e. illness sets in and results in the development of physical and often also mental symptoms. Laura understood the importance of the homeopathic principle of reversing this process by nurturing and supporting the body’s inherent ability to heal. She subsequently enrolled in a 4-year course at the Irish School of Homeopathy and obtained her qualification and licence to practice in 2016. As a 4th year student she also had the opportunity and privilege to study at The Other Song Academy for Advanced Homeopathy in Mumbai.

While growing and expanding her practice, Laura undertook a BSc (Hons) degree at the Centre for Homeopathic Education in London (accredited by Middlesex University) for the academic year 2017-2018.
