IF you have private Health Insurance, you may be able to claim a full or partial refund for items purchased from Bellisima as they are medical products, e.g. post surgery bras, breast forms, swim breast form, swimsuit, valletta top with integrated bra, soft leisure bras, compression bras etc. Contact your insurer to check and we can supply whatever receipts are required.

Did you know from January 2025, the H.S.E. allowances for women after breast cancer are as follows:

Women who wear a breast prosthesis as a result of breast surgery for breast cancer will now be allowed the following every year:

€400 towards 2 bras and 1 prosthesis every year. (This increases to €650 for post double mastectomy).

€150 towards the cost of 1 Swimsuit and 1 Swim Prosthesis every year. (This increases to €215 for post double mastectomy).

This event will see many of our members stepping out of their comfort zone and we’re encouraging you to do the same! Today on National Cancer Survivors Day, we share a vital resource launched for women affected by cancer, who are experiencing a treatment-induced menopause.

Menopause, Diet & Cancer is designed to offer practical, evidence-based guidance on how dietary and lifestyle choices can alleviate menopausal symptoms and enhance overall well-being.

The resource was developed by CORU-registered dietitians Dr. Samantha Cushen and Ms Katie Johnston from School of Food and Nutritional Sciences and Cancer Research , University College Cork, in partnership with the Irish Cancer Society,

Patient spokesperson Marguerite Herlihy said: “I experienced a sudden menopause at age 40, caused by chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and ongoing hormone-blocking treatment for hormone-sensitive breast cancer. This experience has been one of the most difficult and unpredictable challenges I’ve ever faced. The very treatments that are keeping me alive also carry long-term risks to my heart, bones, brain, and other vital organs. That’s why nutrition has become such an essential part of how I care for my health going forward.

“This is the first Irish publication that has truly made me feel seen—not just in terms of my diagnosis, but in the full complexity of what I’m dealing with. Beyond understanding, this book offers clear, science-based nutritional advice and practical strategies I hadn’t been able to find elsewhere.”
