SK Injury & Recovery Clinic, is a clinic which provides services for back/neck pain; joint/muscle injuries; tendon/ligament injuries; Post surgery rehab; posture correction; dry needling; deep tissue sports massage; injury prevention; and more. Many people think because there is Sports & Athletics within the title, we only treat sporting injuries, that DOES NOT stop us from treating people who hav
e not injured themselves through sport or who have a gradual onset of injury/pain. Shelly is the founder and owner of SK Injury & Recovery Clinic. Shelly first studied Anatomy & Physiology along with Sports Massage. With the love for the career Shelly went on to study a bachelors degree in Sports Rehabilitation and Athletic Therapy in Carlow IT. Recently Shelly went on to study Dry Needling and is continuously looking at ways to further her career and be able to provide the most up to date treatments for her patients. Shelly has many years of practice within the sporting career from pitchside and clinical with dealing with teams and individual players from clubs such as Kildare G.A.A, Sligo G.A.A, St. Kevin's G.A.A, Sallins G.A.A, Coill Dubh G.A.A, Coill Dubh AFC. During her studies she gained very valuable experience in her placement in Physiofit in Maynooth, Co.Kildare and within the clinic based in Carlow IT, which broadened her experience with patients of the non-sporting background. She has treated patients for a wide variety of injuries from overuse, posture, work injuries, to sporting injuries. Injuries such as Post ACL Surgery; PCL non-operative tears; Tennis Elbow; Hip Replacement; Post Rotator Cuff Surgery; Post Ankle ATFL Surgery; Sciatica Pain; Hamstring Tears/Strains; Post Fractures; Achilles Strains; Meniscus (Cartilage) Tears; Lower Back Pain; Upper Back/Neck Pain; Frozen Shoulder;
Outside of work Shelly has a great interest within sport, playing G.a.a up until last year. Shelly ceased playing sport due to an MCL grade 2 tear and ACL rupture requiring surgery. While Shelly still has great interest in sports, she has decided to cease playing sport as her career of looking after her patients is of great importance to her.
