A well-fitting saddle is key to your horse’s comfort, but it's just one part of the equation. Even the best-fitting saddle can cause issues if your horse's muscles aren't in good condition.

Physical therapy complements saddle fitting by helping to address muscle tension, improve flexibility, and enhance overall performance.

If you're looking for the perfect balance of saddle fit and therapy, we’re here to help you and your horse achieve optimal comfort and performance.

Reasons to Have Your Saddle Reflocked Regularly:

1. Ensure Optimal Comfort: Reflocking helps prevent pressure points and back pain by ensuring even weight distribution. Your horse will feel the difference!

2. Extend Saddle Life: Regular reflocking helps maintain your saddle’s structure and prevents damage to the leather, allowing it to last longer.

3. Adapt to Changes: As your horse's shape changes due to muscle development or weight fluctuations, reflocking ensures your saddle still fits comfortably.

⌛ How Often? Check your saddle every 6 months, and consider reflocking every 2 years.

Signs You Need Reflocking:
◾ Uneven panels,
◾ Discomfort or soreness in your horse,
◾ Saddle slipping or shifting during rides,

It has been a very cold week for us all and with that it brings unique challenges for both horse and riders. Cold weather can lead to muscle stiffness and changes in body shape, which can impact saddle fit and comfort.

Regular saddle checks, physical therapy, and adjusting your horse’s routine can help keep them comfortable and performing well. It’s important to stay mindful of your horse’s needs as they adjust to the colder weather.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about winter care for your horse!

We don’t just get our physio out “once a year for a yearly check up”, if a horse needs it we call her! As Dumbledore is blind in his right eye he finds working one side harder than the other, so we got Hannah from The Saddle Fitting Therapist out to give him a once over! We have exercises to do with him that myself and his leaser, John, will diligently do. Remember to listen to your horse, they are always trying to communicate and their “bad” or “cheeky” behaviour is most likely them escalating their communication with you! So open those ears and eyes and listen to your horse!!
