Patient with previous ACL (knee) injury and ankle sprains.
Working on restoring good posterior knee stability and cocontraction of the leg.

Case Study 📖
Long Term Hamstring 🦵🏼issue.
Client with right sided hamstring injuries for roughly 4 years. Seen numerous specialists, therapists got scans and performed all rehab programs given. Picture is of his lower limbs. 🦶🏻
The one thing all of the above had in common.... they just focused on his hamstring!
🤕Injury history
Chronological order🤕
2010- right side lateral ankle sprain.
2013- right sided lateral sprain (again)
2015- first hamstring injury,
Recurring since.
Some basic Findings 🧐
1) Ribcage elevated and unable to depress.
2) Right foot more pronated then left (is that a fallen arch needing an orthotic OR protective tone around lateral ankle (two sprains) subconsciously wanting to shift weight away from it (our brain is kinda clever without us knowing)
Treatment 🏃🏼‍♂️
Some hands on to desensitise lateral ankle/hamstring, restored ribcage Mobility along with proper breathing and finally got the lower leg co-contracting with an emphasis on loading the lateral ankle while doing so.
Client has progressed to full speed running with no issues and looking forward to getting back playing Gaelic in the new year.
Very simplistic breakdown.

-Take Away-
Don’t always focus on the site of pain, that hamstring was just massively overworking for other areas.

We take roughly 20,000 breaths a day...
How many of you find it hard to breath through your nose? Wake up with a dry mouth? Feeling anxious? Wake up with pain? Have recurring pain problems?
All of the above can be a direct result of dysfunctional breathing!
Imagine doing 20,000 reps of anything incorrectly... it’s going to cause compensations/dysfunctions etc and keep you in a sympathetic state, where no healing/recovery will happen.
The first step in any rehab programme should be restoring optimal breathing pattern and build upon it.

Working on a little knee pain I currently have.🏃🏼‍♂️
Getting a good co-contraction with forefoot pressure into the ball.
Layering this with a VOR-C to engage my vestibular system and keeping intent through the eyes as I fixate on a target.

Here’s a short snippet of a longer video I sent to a client.
To give the exercise a go, sit against a wall with you back & bum right up against the wall/skirting board. Separate your legs and try raising one leg as high as you can and hold for 3 seconds.

How often do you intentionally move your Spine?
Here is a video I’ve made for a client with back pain who sits at work all day and sits down at home.
Sitting isn’t necessarily the problem, lack of movement is the problem and having exercises to combat sitting down all day is very important.
Learn to differentiate your low back and upper back. Gain good control of the movement and slowly your pain/tightness will disappear!
Tag any friends that sit down at work all day and could do with some spinal movement!
