Our thoughts are with the family of Liam Bluett who sadly passed away yesterday. Liam previously served as CEO of SCCUL Enterprises. He helped create the SCCUL Sanctuary in 2012 with his vision for a place of support, hope and inspiration, as he deeply cared for people. Liam's legacy and spirit will live on at the Sanctuary.

As a mark of respect, the SCCUL Sanctuary will be closed this Thursday, May 21st.

Best wishes to Jordan and Cian who will complete marathon number 19 in Galway today. The brothers are running 33 marathons in 33 days in memory of their late Mum. Half the funds raised will be donated to The Alzheimer Society of Ireland .

Our May guest speaker is Jayne Leonard from the University of Galway. Jayne is a zoologist studying her PhD under the supervision of Michel Dugon. She has a bachelors in zoology which looked at the lethality in tarantula venom and her masters was in the antimicrobial potential in spider venom. Her assistant research year was spent looking at the antimicrobial potential of cobra venom. Now she researches the infection risks after venomous stings and the antimicrobial potential of scorpions. She also cares for 150 animals on the university campus. A timely talk for beekeepers on venom as the season gets underway 🐝
