Foot reflexology was effective in reducing heart rate and was partially effective in reducing blood pressure. It is noninvasive and can be performed in a short period of time as a complimentary therapy.

Working on the Solar Plexus 👣👣👣👣

I was explaining about the solar plexus and its reflex point to a client last week, so I thought I’d put together this post about it for you …

The solar plexus is a complex system of radiating nerves and ganglia found behind our stomach. It is the nerve centre of the autonomic nervous system, and forms part of the sympathetic nervous system.

It is the area of our body that is particularly sensitive to emotions and feelings, and is often where you may feel them the most intensely.😌

This is a popular reflex area on the feet for reflexologists to ‘hang out’ on for a while …. spending time either working on each of these points, or holding them simultaneously with their thumb tips (as in the image).

Your practitioner may even ask you to do some focused breathing whilst they hold these points.

Working the solar plexus reflexes has the potential to create a wonderful feeling of deep relaxation, and calmness.

If humans could purr then I reckon this reflex is the ‘on button’. 😉

In this pilot study 40 patients in an adult oncology unit were randomized to receive 20-25 minute reflexology session or a control
Measurements were taken pre- and post session to ascertain the effects of reflexology on pain and nausea. The outcomes indicated that reflexology was beneficial for reducing pain but were not statistically significant for the reduction in nausea compared to usual nursing care.
