Being a woman
The breast check
The smear tests
The bumps along the road that need investigation
It’s all a lot
So I headed to breast check in a mobile centre. And it was matter of fact. Easy, quick, the receptionist and nurse lovely
But I felt so vulnerable and invaded.
I can’t explain, but I felt like I was so exposed. I couldn’t shake the vulnerability of the experience.
Bit like the smear tests I’ve had.
The smear takes longer but there is just something about the big machine for the breast check that makes it feel so invasive.
I needed courage oil for sure!
It really took days to feel ‘normal’ again…
Then
The white envelope arrived
Clear result
Done and dusted!
Being a woman, so many checks, being older, so many checks too
But these checks do save lives
I need to remember that!
