These images highlight real, measurable results from two patients 12 months post ACL reconstruction, showcasing the impact of structured, individualised rehab delivered at our clinic. Using gold standard isokinetic dynamometry testing, we compared pre rehab and post rehab strength in both knee extension and knee flexion, giving a clear picture of quadriceps and hamstring function across a full range of motion.
In both cases, initial testing showed clear imbalances between the left and right leg, with significant strength deficits, particularly in the hamstrings, and asymmetry levels exceeding return to play standards. This meant neither athlete was physically ready to safely return to sport and both were at increased risk of re injury. One of these patients had previously completed rehab but was not achieving the results needed, highlighting that not all rehab is equal and that simply going through the process does not guarantee the right outcome.
Following structured, progressive rehabilitation at our clinic, led by our Athletic Therapist James, both patients made significant improvements. Post rehab testing showed reduced asymmetry across all key measures, with most values now within acceptable return to play criteria and many showing strong symmetry between limbs. Peak strength and control at specific joint angles improved across the board, demonstrating not just recovery, but high level strength restoration and movement quality. Both patients also progressed from below average into normal ranges when compared to normative data, reinforcing the effectiveness of the programme.
One patient has now successfully returned to sport with confidence, while the other is in the final stages of return to play rehabilitation and close to getting back. At our clinic, we prioritise objective testing, expert guidance, and measurable outcomes to ensure every patient is not just pain free, but stronger, safer, and fully prepared for their return to performance.
