Another great video from Sean Tobin.
These just keep getting better and better,
It's great to see a local man doing so well, and really highlights the work and commitment Sean puts into trying to be a better athlete.
I'm delighted to say I'm part of his back room team and wish him every success in the future.

Welcome to a typical Wednesday in Clonmel! Lately, I’ve been enjoying a longer morning run, freeing up my evenings for unhurried gym sessions. After Tuesday’...

What a great attitude to have. At a time when the whole country is talking about our successful Olympics, it's important to remember just how valuable the role of sports plays in people's lives. There's always a debate about which sports gets x amount of funding, the debate should be about increasing the funding to all sports.
Not everyone is blessed with the skills for Gaa or the physical attributes for rugby, but these people need facilities and access to good coaching too. While things are improving for minority sports, it's important not to drop the ball. Being in a healthy physical or mental place is also winning, you just don't get a medal for it.

The PEACE and LOVE protocol is a new approach to managing soft tissue injuries that were developed in response to research from Dubois and Escuiler et al 2019, which suggests that traditional approaches, such as rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE), may actually slow down the healing process. The PEACE and LOVE protocol is based on the idea that inflammation and pain are normal and necessary parts of the healing process, and that we should work with the body’s natural healing mechanisms rather than trying to suppress them.
"A" for avoiding anti-inflammatory modalities
Is probably the most important part of the PEACE /LOVE acronym as it is possibly the "go-to" when injuries occur.
"The various phases of inflammation help repair damaged soft tissues. Thus, inhibiting inflammation using medications may negatively affect long-term tissue healing, especially when higher dosages are used.2 Standard of care for soft-tissue injuries should not include anti-inflammatory medications.

We also question the use of cryotherapy. Despite widespread use among clinicians and the population, there is no high-quality evidence on the efficacy of ice for treating soft-tissue injuries.2 Even if mostly analgesic, ice could potentially disrupt inflammation, angiogenesis and revascularisation, delay neutrophil and macrophage infiltration as well as increase immature myofibres.3 This may lead to impaired tissue repair and redundant collagen synthesis.3"

Emile Cairess ran himself into 3rd place in London marathon in a time of 2.06.46. Wearing just a Casio watch, no heart rate monitor, no GPS,
Years of learning to judge pace without the aid of such devices. 😉
Do you think you could run without all the modern technology 🤔
