Who are they?
Formally know as Friends of St Josephs Hospital. Founded in 1979 the Friends are a group of people who assisted the hospital financially over the past thirty years, in order to improve services for the patients. To date they have provided many amenities for the patients including additional medical equipment, social activities and patient’s comfort.

The design of this chair meets the needs of the patients in STGH as it has retractable head and arm rests. Staff in South Tipperary find that this is a necessary aid to patient care. The chair is not only used to provide the correct position for patients following illnesses such as Stokes etc but this chair can also be used to transfer patients from the wards to the physiotherapy department to enable their rehabilitation. The patient is secure in the chair on transfer allowing the patient to relax in a safe environment. The chair is easy to move around the hospital as it has good handling qualities and is of lightweight construction.
