What I Do

At the Acupuncture Clinic of Health and Well~Being an initial consultation and detailed assessment is carried out, all aspects of the person is taken into consideration including past, present medical history, prescribed and non prescribed medication, lifestyle, diet and emotional factors.

Traditional diagnostic skills are used including tongue and pulse diagnosis. This is crucial to determine where the imbalances lie in the body and assist with the correct acupoint selection. Cupping, massage, dietary advise and stress management may also be used to compliment the treatment. The aim is to treat the whole person rather than the symptom alone. This approach has many benefits. It can help patients perhaps for the first time in years to take a good look at themselves, their lifestyles, state of mind including attitude to themselves and the mental and physical demands made of them. (many people pay no attention to their health until something is wrong) With self knowledge patients can improve their mental and physical well-being which in turn will encourage the body to increase it’s ability to heal itself and combat future diseases. For example if a person presents with a complaint that is stress related I will work to relieve the immediate symptoms but we must also work to tackle the cause of stress providing both a through treatment and beneficial advise.
