CRC is proud to contribute to and welcome the 6th International Symposium on Surgery of the Spastic Upper Limb to Dublin, bringing together global experts across surgery, rehabilitation and research.

Chaired by Ms Gráinne Colgan (NOHC/CRC), this year’s symposium is dedicated to the legacy of Christy Brown. We were honoured to have his family open the event, sharing powerful reflections and readings that reminded us all of the lived experience behind clinical practice.

At its heart, this symposium challenges us to focus on potential over limitation — a message inspired by Christy’s story and the unwavering belief of his mother.
As the programme unfolds, we continue to advance clinical practice while keeping the human story at the centre of everything we do.

(L-R: Ms Grainne Colgan (CRC/NOHC), Dr Rory O'Sullivan (CRC), Andrea, Ciarán and Caomhán DeBrún and Angela Lee (CEO, NOHC)

Registration is open for the 38th Annual Congress of the European Academy of Childhood-onset Disability (EACD 2026), taking place at University of Galway, Ireland, from 3 – 6 June 2026.

The old Irish wisdom ‘Mol an Óige agus Tiocfaidh Siad’ – Encourage the young and they will flourish – is the theme of EACD 2026.

This year’s congress embraces a strengths-based approach to childhood-onset disability, rooted in respect, empowerment, and opportunity.

The congress tracks will align with the internationally recognised “F-words for Child Development” – Functioning, Family, Fitness, Fun, Friends and Future - offering a holistic lens through which to support children and young people with disabilities, and their families.

Register before 6 February 2026 to avail of the Early Bird registration fees!
