Job Title: Housekeeping Attendant
Accountable To: Director of Nursing
Reports To: Administration Manager/ Director of Nursing
Working With: All staff members
Job Summary
• To provide a quality household service for residents of Oaklodge, as outlined by the Director of Nursing or Person in Charge.
• Under the direction of the Administration Manager, provide high standards of domestic services to the residents and throughout the home.
• To work shifts as per duty roster and as & when required Monday to Sunday.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision and guidance of the Administration Manager/Director of Nursing:
• Carry out all domestic duties regarding the resident’s environment including the cleaning of all resident bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets.
• Carry out all domestic duties to the public areas within the home including corridors, reception, day-rooms and dining room as per work schedule.
• Domestic duties for all internal areas, offices, stores, staff changing rooms and treatment room
The cleaning of all interior doors/glass and skirting boards.
• The provision of an adequate supply of toileting equipment, hand towels etc to all of the above areas.
• Follow all instructions as regards product use.
• Follow guidance in relation to cleaning schedules.
General Responsibilities
• Be familiar with, and implement, all policies, procedures and guidelines as laid down by the Nursing Home.
• Comply with the Nursing Home dress code, which may be amended from time to time.
• Be economical in the use of supplies, equipment, materials, heating and lighting.
Respect confidential information obtained in the course of work and refrain from disclosing such information, except where disclosure is required by law or is necessary in the public interest.
• All written & verbal communication in the workplace is through English, unless specifically required otherwise by a resident.
Code of Conduct
• To behave in a manner which promotes good working relationships between all members of the Oaklodge team.
• To show courtesy and respect in all communications between management, colleagues, residents and relatives.
• To follow all procedures in relation to dignity at work and sick leave, annual leave etc., as per the staff handbook
• Gifts must not be accepted from residents or family members at any time.
Staff Development
• The staff member will be required to undertake mandatory training in moving and handling, fire safety and prevention of abuse on commencement and as per statutory requirements thereafter.
• The staff member will be required to attend study days and in-service training as arranged to develop personal and communication skills.
Health and Safety at Work
• It is the responsibility of all employees to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and the health & safety of others who may be affected by their actions at work.
• Adhere to Policies and Statements on all aspects of Health and Safety, in particular the policy on Manual Handling of patients, as outlined in Health and Safety Act (1989)
• Prompt verbal reporting any accident or untoward incident followed by a written report
