Somatic Movement Education
Specialising in Emotional & Physical Trauma What is Somatic Movement Education? Move slowly.

It's a cutting edge approach to health and wellness. Somatics is slow functional movement that applies a pattern of doing, resting and exploring movement rather than just completing exercises. This movement rehabilitation teaches you to recognise and release contractions held in the body (possibly for years) that can cause chronic pain and confusion in the body. Learn harmony of mind, body and spirit using your bodies innate intelligence to make changes through your central nervous system in a gentle non invasive way. Move with awareness. Move without pain.

Trauma often leads to a spiritual crisis and a profound re-evaluation of meaning.

The very nature of trauma is that it is overwhelming. It is more than the organism can cope with. Trauma shatters our worldview, rules of fairness and justice no longer seem to apply.

It takes us to very primitive place of fight–or–flight or dissociation. It is very hard to live fully with a brain screaming "danger!", and generating life or death scenarios at the slightest stimulus.

It is really important to find the community and get support to rediscover what safety feels like. If you've experienced trauma, take some chances and open up to your friends and loved ones.

The best way to reset the old parts of our brain is to slowly wake up the body. Healing trauma is not about remembering. It is about self-regulating to turn down intense reactions in the body.

Tara Dowling -Somatic Healing 🌻

Tara is a passionate wellness advocate with a unique journey!
After starting her career in fitness and later flying the skies with Aer Lingus as cabin crew, Tara experienced a work-related back injury that changed everything.
Frustrated with traditional recovery routes, Tara discovered Somatics – and it transformed her life. The results were so profound that she trained to become a certified Somatic Movement Educator.

So, what is Somatics?
Somatic Movement is a gentle, science-based approach that taps into the body’s natural ability to heal.
It helps release chronic pain, reduce stress, and restore movement through slow, mindful motion.
By doing less, sensing more, and tuning into your body, you retrain your muscles to let go of tension and pain – bringing flexibility and freedom back to your life.
“We hold our issues in our tissues” – and Somatics helps us let go.

Hey guys!

This talk is happening tomorrow evening in the lovely olive room in Gorey.

I was on the teaching team on the last training in Galway and as usual it was awesome and life changing for all the students.

Students are held in such a beautiful way and supported on their 2yr journey.

If you’d like to meet some of the teaching team and learn about the training you can let Dermot know you’re attending or drop in and say hi.

Oh and this will be the first year we have the training in Waterford, wouldn’t it be lovely to see this grow on the sunny south east ☀️☀️☀️☀️

"CASH IS KING" 👑

- If you have a 50€ note in your pocket and you take it to the restaurant and pay for dinner...

The restaurant uses this 50€ to pay the laundry bill. The owner of the laundry then pays someone for, let's say a haircut at the hairdressers shop. The hairdresser uses €50 at the supermarket checkout.

After an unlimited number of payments, the value of the 50€ note remains the same, which means that it has served its purpose for all those who have used it as a means of payment and the bank has no activity or interference in any cash transaction made.

HOWEVER... WHAT IF YOU PAY BY CARD ?

- If you go to a restaurant and pay digitally with your Card the cost of your digital payment billed to the restaurant owner, including transaction fees in percentages, is an average of 2.5%, which means they are charged roughly about 1.25€ for each payment transaction.

This means that each further payment transaction by Card costs another 1.25€. So, taking our scenario the same charges apply to the restaurant owner who pays the laundry bill in digital format, the hairdresser payment, plus other payments, etc.

So after the first 36 transactions of this 50€, only €5 remains and the remaining 45€ ends up in the Bank 🤬 thanks to all these digital transactions and fees !

Furthermore, the cost of a bank card is on average 2.25€ per month, so after you have saved for a month, your 50€ will be only worth 47.75€.

Electronic/Card payment is just a continuous payment to banks and DOES NOT BENEFIT you or the local business in any way !
