Are you frustrated easily?
Feeling a lot of anxiety?
Possible ache in your side, or feelings of a pit stuck in your throat?
Do you get overwhelmed by emotional stress?
Are you waking up at night?

Liver Qi Stagnation might be what’s going on.

In Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Qi plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health and well-being. One of the most common imbalances within the body is known as Liver Qi Stagnation.

Causes of Liver Qi Stagnation:
- Emotional Stress,
- Dietary factors,
- Sedentary lifestyle,
- Environmental factors.

Physical Symptoms can include:
- Abdominal bloating or discomfort
- A feeling of distension of the hypochondrium, chest, epigastrium or abdomen
- Excessive sighing
- Digestive issues, such as constipation or diarrhea
- Headaches
- Menstrual irregularities or PMS
- Fatigue and lethargy
- Feeling a lump in your throat (known as “plum pit” sensation).

Emotional Symptoms can include:
- Irritability and mood swings
- Depression, fluctuation of mental state, “feeling wound-up”,
- Anxiety
- Insomnia or disturbed sleep
- Difficulty making decisions or feeling stuck in life

If any of this is sounding familiar, now is the time to book in for some acupuncture.

In the meantime, here are some tips you can do yourself to help balance your Liver qi.
- Eat your greens
- Exercise
- Prioritise sleep
- Manage your stress as much as possible.

ACUPUNCTURE AND IVF
Recent studies have demonstrated a higher percentage of successful pregnancies when acupuncture is used in conjunction with any ART procedure and IVF doctors are commonly recommending acupuncture to increase the chances of an IVF cycle succeeding as it can optimise your chances of implantation and full term births.
Weekly sessions of acupuncture are recommended for up to 3 months prior to the beginning of your IVF cycle so that we can assist the process as follows:
* Promoting follicle development in the early part of the cycle
* Promoting follicle maturation for egg collection towards the middle of the cycle
* Helping the ovaries and your body recover from the egg collection procedure
* Preparing the uterus for embryo transfer
* Supporting the uterus after implantation
Acupuncture also helps greatly with all of the stress, anxiety and fatigue caused by the demands of the IVF process.

Acupuncture can help you feel your best as you kick off the New Year! Here’s how: 1: Winter encourages us to be Yin: to be still, to rest, and to conserve our resources and energy. When you have a job, a family, school, and New Years resolutions to hit the gym hard, it can be tough to find that Yin moment. Too much activity during a time of year that calls for slowing down can overload the Kidney energy and Qi. Acupuncture allows for the time and space for relaxation and restoration.
2: Acupuncture eases seasonal transitions and boosts your immunity, energy and general well-being. Signs that your body needs some support with the change of seasons includes allergies, low immunity, low energy, and seasonal affective disorder. If you are to schedule just a few acupuncture treatments a year, changes in season would be an excellent time to come see us!
3: Acupuncture is empowering and helps you to take charge of your health! Chinese Medicine teaches us how everything is connected, and this builds an awareness for what our body needs to be healthy. Needling points along the meridians is a catalyst for positive change and reminds the body of its own ability to heal. 4.When all is said and done, the holiday celebrating can leave some of us feeling a little less merry and bright! Understandably so, detoxes and cleanses are popular in the early weeks of January. Acupuncture supports the organ systems (i.e., the Liver, Kidneys, Lungs, and Large Intestines) that are responsible for cleansing the body of toxins that accumulate due to diet, lifestyle, and environmental pollutants. Some cleanses can be quite extreme and depleting. With the added benefit of being healing and strengthening, acupuncture becomes an excellent ally to any detox regimen.

What is Acupuncture? 🤔

Acupuncture is the practice of penetrating the skin with thin, solid, metallic needles which are then activated through gentle and specific movements of the practitioner’s hands or with electrical stimulation.

What does acupuncture feel like? 👀

Acupuncture is done using very fine needles. Most people report feeling minimal pain as the needle is inserted. The needle is inserted to a point that produces a sensation of pressure or ache. Needles may be heated during the treatment or mild electric current may be applied to them. Some people report acupuncture makes them feel energized. Others say they feel relaxed.

Endometriosis and Acupuncture
🌟 Endometriosis can be a painful and challenging condition, but acupuncture may offer some relief! This natural therapy has been used for thousands of years to alleviate pain and improve overall health and wellbeing. Here are some of the ways that acupuncture may help with endometriosis:
1️ Pain relief: Acupuncture can help to reduce the pain associated with endometriosis by activating the body's natural painkillers and reducing inflammation.
2️ Hormonal balance: Acupuncture may help to regulate hormone levels, reducing symptoms like menstrual irregularities and mood swings.
3️ Stress reduction: Acupuncture can promote relaxation and reduce stress levels, which can be beneficial for people with endometriosis.
4️ Improved circulation: Acupuncture can improve blood flow and circulation, which can help to reduce inflammation and promote healing.
5️ Complementary therapy: Acupuncture can be used alongside conventional treatments for endometriosis as a complementary therapy, improving outcomes and reducing side effects.
If you're interested in exploring acupuncture as a treatment option for endometriosis, talk to a licensed practitioner like me to determine the best approach for your individual needs. 🍃🍵
