Today our 1st year Osteopathic students are learning all about the shoulder joint, or glenohumeral joint. It is a ball-and-socket synovial joint that is the most mobile in the human body, allowing for a wide range of motion. 🙋‍♀️ This great flexibility comes at the cost of stability, so it relies heavily on surrounding soft tissues for support. 💪🏻

Anatomy and Structure 🌟
The shoulder is a complex of several joints, with the main articulation being the glenohumeral joint. It is formed by the articulation of three bones: 🦴
Humerus: The upper arm bone, the rounded head of which forms the "ball" of the joint.⚽️
Scapula: The shoulder blade, which contains the shallow "socket" called the glenoid cavity (or fossa).
Clavicle: The collarbone, which connects the shoulder to the sternum (breastbone). 🥼
