I got to meet some lovely Mums and babies at the HSE Breastfeeding support group in Midleton today ❤️

I was there to talk about Craniosacral Therapy and how it can help with issues regarding breastfeeding, colic, reflux and more..

The nervous system is how our bodies interacts with the world, controlling how we move, feel, and even controls automatic functions like heartbeat! 💫

🧠 The central nervous system (CNS) is made up of the brain and spinal cord.

The body is connected to this through the peripheral nervous system (PNS) ⚡

👉 The PNS is further divided into the autonomic and somatic nervous systems.

The autonomic nervous system is divided again into enteric ,sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems! 🤯

The hyoid bone is unique. 🌿

👉 It's the only bone in our bodies not directly connected to any other bones!

Instead, it connects to our head, chest, neck and shoulders by over 20 muscle attachments. 🤯

✨ It plays a crucial role in speaking, swallowing and breathing and is really important in Craniosacral Therapy.

As it has such a role in our speech and voice, if someone has a repressed voice, unable to say what they need to, releasing the hyoid and all those muscles attached can help people find their voice! 🕊️

👉When Maeve brought her baby boy for issues around sleep and unsettledness stemming from a traumatic birth, I suggested that maybe they get treated together.

As parents we always look after our children first, but often the best thing we can do is help ourselves, or if possible heal together ❤️
