In her own words:
Dear friends,
As some of you are aware I was involved in a life altering car crash 7 years ago. I’ve been in and out of hospital many times since including lumbar surgery that didn’t help. I’ve seen endless doctors who have not been able to help and lucky to fine a few abroad that thankfully have been able to give me a diagnosis.
Unfortunately, the diagnosis is very complex. The ligaments that hold my neck in place are badly damaged.
This means my head is sinking into my neck leading to pretty horrific symptoms.
So I’m currently left with almost no mobility. I can get from the bed to the loo but struggle to get back. Anything more triggers seizures. The seizures are now multiple times a day, severe headaches, loss of feeling in most of my body, short term memory issues, cognitive issues, breathing apnea and many more.
My cerebellum is herniated and I have a significant blood clot in my left internal jugular vein.
On top of that I have 10mm dislocation on the left side of my C1/C2 vertebrae.
In order to engage in life I need to wear a cervical/thoracic brace that keeps my head lifted and immobilised. When I am well enough to wear it it improves some leg function, reduces my headaches and seizures so gives me a little bit of relief.
Unfortunately it’s very uncomfortable and difficult to fit exactly.
What we do know now is that my injuries are not repairable.
That’s been very hard to process. However, the good news is that because the brace works we know that with the right traction to my neck if my head is fused to my neck down to my back as far as the T2 vertebrae and totally immobilised permanently I may be able to get some quality of life back.
Of course, it’s a massive 12 hour surgery and again the good news is we have found an amazing surgeon in Spain that regularly does these surgeries.
This year, my condition has declined so much that leaves me struggling to breathe sometimes and with the many daily seizures it’s now critical that I have this surgery now.
We have spent our savings trying to get the diagnosis and now I’ve been forced to shut my business and Glyn lost his job during COVID which has made things tougher for us.
What I would love is your prayers and support more than anything. It’s been a very lonely few years.
If you are in a position to donate it would mean the world to me.
Or if you are able to SHARE this could make a big impact.
Thank you so much for those that have already helped.
I’m very touched by your kindness.
