Somewhere between the first alarm and your first coffee, you could already be on the mat.

By 7:00 am, Cork is only just starting to stir, but you are already doing something for yourself. Not to change everything. Just to feel a little more grounded, a little less rushed, and a little more in your body.

And after a while, it shifts. Wednesday feels clearer. Thursday feels lighter. Friday feels different. That is how a real routine begins: quietly, consistently, in real life.

Join us with our intro offer: a special first month, then a regular monthly plan. Build a practice you’ll actually stick with.

Ashtanga Yoga is often recognised through its physical practice, but the posture is only one part of the path.

The eight limbs offer a wider map, from how we relate to others, to how we breathe, focus, turn inward, meditate, and ultimately dissolve the sense of separation.

At Himalaya Yoga Valley, we care deeply about keeping yoga connected to its roots, its language, and its depth.

Because there is something powerful about experiencing the practice in a way that still feels whole.

Which limb speaks to you most right now?

Pilates is often underestimated, especially by men.

It is not only about flexibility or slower movement. It can be a highly effective way to improve core strength, reduce lower back discomfort, build better control, and move with more balance through everyday life and training.

At Himalaya Yoga Valley, our Mat Pilates classes offer a practical starting point for anyone looking to build strength more intelligently and support the body in a more sustainable way.

Our Intro Offer makes it easier to begin. Join for €19.99 for your first month, with Unlimited Hybrid Membership at €59.99 per month from your second month onwards.

That means you can start building consistency with access to both in-studio and online classes, giving you the flexibility to practice in a way that fits your week.

If you have been thinking about starting, this is a good time to step in.

We’re so happy to welcome Abbey to the teaching team at Himalaya Yoga Valley.

Abbey’s path into teaching began through years of dedicated personal practice and a deep appreciation for yoga’s ability to support both physical and mental wellbeing. Since qualifying with Himalaya Yoga Valley in 2024, she has gone on to share her teaching across studios, outdoor spaces, and festivals, always creating a space that feels welcoming, supportive, and grounded.

Alongside her work in movement, Abbey is also a qualified nutritionist and is currently completing a master’s degree in dietetics. Her approach is shaped by a genuine interest in the connection between movement, nourishment, and overall wellbeing.

Teaching yoga, restorative yoga, mat Pilates, and reformer Pilates, Abbey brings together strength, mobility, mindful awareness, and ease, offering classes that support both energising movement and deep rest.

We’re delighted to have her with us and can’t wait for you to practise with her. 🤍

Our April themes in studio continue to build on a steady rhythm of practice across the week.

In South Mall, Tuesday evenings focus on advancing your practice through a structured approach towards Vashistasana, working with strength, balance, and control over time. Thursdays bring a Chakra-themed class, exploring the body through movement, breath, and awareness.

In Ballincollig, Tuesday’s Grounding Yoga centres on stability and connection, while Friday mornings focus on creating more space through the spine and shoulders with a supportive, mobility-based practice.

These weekly themes offer a consistent point of return, allowing you to become more familiar with each focus and develop your practice gradually over the month.

We look forward to seeing you in class.

Yin and Restorative Yoga are often grouped together, but they are not the same practice.

Both are slower, quieter, and deeply supportive in their own way, yet they work with the body very differently.

Yin Yoga invites time, stillness, and gentle sensation to access the deeper tissues of the body. It asks for presence, patience, and a willingness to stay.

Restorative Yoga, on the other hand, is rooted in complete support. With the help of props and minimal effort, it offers the body and nervous system space to truly rest.

One is not “better” than the other. They simply serve different purposes. Some days, the body asks for space. Some days, it asks for support. And often, the real practice is learning to recognise the difference.

If you have ever been unsure which one is right for you, this is a good place to begin. Join us at Himalaya Yoga Valley and explore both practices with us.

Slow down for a moment…

Exhale the week. Move gently. Find stillness. Welcome ease.

After the pace and demands of the week, the body often calls for something simpler: space to release, room to breathe, and a way of practising that values awareness over effort.

To take proper care of ourselves, it becomes important to pause, to listen more closely, to acknowledge what feels depleted, and to allow space for restoration without the sense of needing to earn it.

This quieter rhythm sits at the heart of our weekend classes at Himalaya Yoga Valley Ireland, offering a considered space to return to presence in a more steady and embodied way.

Spend part of your weekend in practice with us.

Why practice in the morning?

There is a quiet hour before the world fully wakes, when the light is softer and everything feels slightly suspended.
In that space, the body begins to open — not all at once, but gradually, like a window letting in fresh air.

The breath deepens without effort.
The mind, still untouched by the noise of the day, moves more gently.

Nothing extraordinary seems to happen.
And yet, something shifts beneath the surface.

With time, these mornings begin to collect - becoming a kind of quiet strength, a balance you carry with you long after you’ve stepped off the mat.

“Yoga is skill in action.”
Bhagavad Gita 2:50

In yoga discussions we sometimes hear the idea that if something is not written in the Yoga Sutras, it cannot be considered real yoga.

The tradition of yoga has always been broader than one text.

The Bhagavad Gita presents another powerful perspective. It reminds us that yoga is not only meditation. It is also how we act in the world and how awareness guides our choices.

Around the Spring Equinox the natural world reminds us of balance. Day and night meeting in equal measure.

Yoga reflects that same balance. Tradition and evolution. Study and practice.

This living balance is what keeps the tradition alive 🌿
