Why join in? 📍 Over 1,000 clubs across Ireland are turning on their floodlights, providing well-lit and flat walking tracks for the community. 🛡️ Safety first: The tracks are traffic-free and perfectly visible, meaning no risk of tripping in the dark. 🏠 Fresh air and movement is the best therapy for the winter blues!

The initiative runs from January 7th to February 11th across all 32 counties!

Even though we associate it with a joyful New Year’s welcome, "Auld Lang Syne" is actually an anthem about... memory and loyalty. For many caregivers coming to Ireland from different parts of Europe, it might be surprising why this particular song stirs up such deep emotions here.

Here are 3 interesting facts you should know before New Year’s Eve:
👉 What does it actually mean?
The name comes from the Scots language (closely linked to Irish history) and literally means "old long since" or "for old times' sake." It poses a question to all of us: Should old acquaintances be forgotten and never brought to mind?

👉 Why does Ireland love it so much?
Although the lyrics were written by the Scotsman Robert Burns, the tradition of singing it at the end of gatherings and on New Year’s Eve has taken deep root in Ireland. It is similar in spirit to "The Parting Glass" – a traditional farewell toast. It’s that special moment where everyone holds hands to form a circle – a symbol of unity that is so vital in Irish communities.

Why bother? Because in our digital world, a handwritten note is the ultimate expression of respect and care. A card on the mantelpiece brings warmth and joy every single day – unlike a text or a message on Messenger that disappears in seconds! 🥰
