Slimming World Groups Step Up for Marymount Hospice in the Echo Women’s Mini Marathon

Members of several local Slimming World groups are swapping their weekly weigh-ins for walking shoes as they prepare to take on this year’s Echo Women’s Mini Marathon in Cork on Sunday, September 21st

The groups are uniting in support of Marymount Hospice, a charity close to many hearts in Cork and beyond. With so many families touched by cancer, the hospice’s work has a deeply personal meaning for participants. Together, the members are hoping to raise €5,000 to support the vital care and services that Marymount provides to patients and families.

“This isn’t just about walking the marathon—it’s about walking with purpose,” “Marymount has been there for so many people in our community during the toughest of times. We want to give back and show that every step counts.”

The Slimming World members, many of whom have been on their own health and weight-loss journeys, see the event as a celebration of their progress, determination, and community spirit.

“We’re proof that small, positive changes really do add up “Taking part in the marathon is something I never thought I could do before Slimming World—but here we are, doing it together and for such an important cause.”
After losing 6 stone myself with slimmingworld frankfield I really love this day with my members ❤️

The groups would love the public’s support—whether it’s by cheering them along the route on marathon day or helping them reach their fundraising goal.

Hi I'm a leaflet. I may well be floating through your letter box soon. At first glance you might think I'm junk mail. I promise I won't be too offended... but can I just ask you to consider a few things. So far us leaflets have achieved some amazing things. We've helped people take that often really hard step into a friendly local group. That might not seen much but when that small step leads to life changing events then Wow.. like what? You might ask.. here's a few examples...

⭐️Becoming medication free after managing health conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

⭐️Being able to move more after reducing joint pain and using fewer pain killers

⭐️Improved sense of well being and self esteem being supported by people who understand.

⭐️Fertility improving and babies being born.. (my particular favourite 😚)and in frankfield we have our gorgeous babies

⭐️Learning about healthy cooking and shopping and improving family eating.

⭐️Meeting new friends and making lifelong friendships.

⭐️There are so many success stories in every group, it really is so much more than "just losing weight".

So if I land on your door mat, just for a second think.. you really can take that step if you feel ready... I might not be what you need right now but maybe a friend or relative might..
I hope you can see that rather than just junk mail I'm an invitation to take that step to a healthier future... 😉

Besties Abby and Robbie joined their local Slimming World group together. At first, they felt a little nervous and apprehensive about whether they’d be able to lose weight... though it wasn't long before they felt at ease, and started seeing results! Just look at them go 🙌 💕!
