On Wednesday, October 16th, Julie and Mark O'Sullivan represented The Sunflower Clinic at a moving presentation held at the Dáil, focused on restoring therapy services to special schools in Ireland.
A panel of special school principals, staff, and parents shared deeply personal stories, highlighting the impact the HSE's withdrawal of therapy services in 2020 has had on the physical and emotional well-being of their students.
Julie delivered a heartfelt plea to the TDs, Senators, and staff, urging them to help reinstate these essential services, which play a crucial role in the learning and development of children in special schools.
We extend our sincere thanks to Sue Linehan, Principal of St. Killian’s, who has been instrumental in advocating for the restoration of these vital services for her students. The Sunflower Clinic fully supports the ongoing efforts to restore therapy services to all special schools in Ireland.
We would also like to thank and applaud everyone involved in organising and attending this important event. It is vital that such presentations take place and are heard, as they shine a light on the critical need for action to support the well-being of children in special schools across the country.
