Naturopathic Nutrition is steeped in the belief that food is our medicine. Nutritional Therapy is the application of the latest research in nutritional science for the promotion of health. It looks at the underlying cause of disease, addressing the whole person, not just the isolated symptoms. Naturopathic Nutritionist, Tara Zuluaga Dorgan spends time with her patients going through medical history, lifestyle factors, environmental considerations and food choices that can influence long-term health. She may also use traditional diagnostic tools and laboratory testing to identify potential nutritional imbalances or causative triggers to the individual’s health concerns. Tara engages in a working relationship with her clients to create a personalized and achievable nutrition plan that will support their unique expression of health. Nutritional therapy is recognized as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing.

We have a talk coming up on September 25th at Griffith College Cork, focused on cancer prevention and longevity with CNM - College of Naturopathic Medicine

Oncology Nutrition has been a passion of mine for over 25 years since I lost my grandfather to prostate cancer well before his time.

Unfortunately, the western model is only focused on the disease and not the person nor the prevention. We need to also be thinking preventatively. EveryBody has a different set of genes, exposures, stressors, dietary and lifestyle choices. There is no one size fits all approach, but if we understand our own risks and how to address them we can implement strategic changes with life changing impacts.

Integrative Oncology Nutrition is focused on WHY we are getting cancer and addressing these, not only as a preventative measure to reduce our risk of getting cancer, but also as a means of reducing risk of chronic disease and improving longevity. It is also vital to focus, retrospectively, on WHY we many have been diagnosed with cancer, address the underlying causes and rebuild our immune systems to reduce chances of cancer returning after treatment.

This talk will empower you to start asking the right questions of your own health story and provide tools that you can implement today to live a healthier life.

We have been suffering with sleep in our house lately! 🐺🌖 I didn’t realize the moon has such an impact on Melatonin 🥸
I will be making a 🍒 tart cherry-chia night cap at our cooking class Sunday evening as part of The Barn’s Radiant Revolution! Tart cherries are a natural source of melatonin and we’ll be using some other sleep 😴 supporting ingredients too!
I’ll share the recipe here for everyone to enjoy on Sunday!

Are you ready for the first full moon of the year today? It's called the Wolf Moon. Anecdotally, people report poorer sleep during the full moon time; this phenomenon has been researched. The study I present here was done in a sleep lab with several factors controlled for, including menstrual cycle. The researchers found that moon cycles can influence sleep and melatonin. In addition to less deep sleep, longer time to fall asleep, and shorter sleep duration, they also reported lower endogenous melatonin four days before and after a full moon.

What I do during the days leading up to a full moon and shortly after is take a higher dose (3 mg) of my favorite plant melatonin (called Herbatonin from Symphony Natural Health) to help smooth out my sleep during those times of month. Ask your health professional if taking supplemental melatonin would be a good idea for you. It is known to interact with medications, so be aware of that if you are taking any. Contact the Medical Team at Symphony Natural Health at medical.team@symphonynaturalhealth.com if you want to talk with someone about Herbatonin.

2023 was full of change, challenge, heartache of a unjust and uncertain world... But also travel, friendship, healing and so so much to be grateful for. I hope you can send off 2023 with gratitude and fill your heart with hope for what is to come.

I love this Root Chakra painting by Catherine G McElroy and of course this shorted version of 'advice of a tree' by Ilan Shamir.
These simple words are powerful.

I am soaking up time with family, remembering my roots, and looking forward to new beginnings as I start my Metabolic Oncology Nutrition Consulting Program next week!

Wishing all of my wonderful clients, colleagues, family and friends across the globe a year of adventure, health and happiness!

I am back in the office on Tuesday, January 2nd. Please connect with me if you are looking for Nutritional Support on your health journey.

Yours in Health, Tara Zuluaga Dorgan

Why not feel radiant everyday?! This set of labs are designed to look at your nutrient deficiencies, thyroid, liver and kidney function, cardiovascular health and immunity to give you a picture of your baseline. We will guide you in ways to improve your unique health status so you can be the best version of yourself.
