A human being carries within a natural power to heal.
It doesn’t need miracles only silence, time, and space.
When we stop feeding the body with constant excess,
the system begins to repair itself.
Cells start clearing what no longer serves,
the mind grows quiet, and energy returns to its source.
Fasting is not starvation
it is a conversation with your own body,
which finally gets the chance to do what it was always designed to do:
heal itself….
1. Glycogen depletion
After about 24 hours, your body uses up its glycogen stores (the sugar stored in your liver and muscles).
Then it switches to burning fat for energy.
By the 36-hour mark, you’re deeply in ketosis, which brings:
clearer thinking,
a calm nervous system,
and fat burning instead of sugar burning.
2. Activation of autophagy
Autophagy (your cells’ “self-cleaning” process) begins around 16–18 hours, but it peaks between 30–36 hours.
During this window, your body:
removes toxins and damaged cells,
repairs cell membranes,
and clears out old proteins linked to aging.
3. Hormone and insulin reset
A 36-hour fast allows:
Insulin levels to drop, restoring insulin sensitivity,
Human growth hormone (HGH) to rise, helping tissue repair,
and cortisol (the stress hormone) to stabilize.
4. Mental clarity
Across many traditions (Islam ,Christian, ), 36 hours is seen as a transition point where the mind shifts from physical cravings to heightened awareness.
Around this time, people often feel:
deep calm,
inner focus,
and a “light” energy , clarity.
5. Safe refeeding window
If a fast goes much longer than 36 hours, the metabolism can start slowing down.
So 36 hours is a sweet spot long enough for deep healing, but short enough to stay safe.
