Shiatsu is a profoundly effective bodywork rooted in Chinese Medicine, developed in Japan and brought to the West, becoming increasingly popular since the 1970's. Shiatsu technique involves stretching, joint mobilisation and applying weight through the palms, thumbs, (knees, feet, and forearms) into various parts of the recipient's body. This encourages greater harmony of Ki (energy), circulation,

flexibility and postural integrity. Many of the techniques are applied to the same system of energy channels (meridians) and acupressure points as used in acupuncture. Shiatsu has proven to help with relaxation, general health and a wide range of physical and emotional problems.

Spring is here and with it we are offering two free new workshops from the Shiatsu School Cork.
Shiatsu is a bodywork therapy that involves acupressure and stretches to balance the clients body and energy systems. Unique to the work of a Shiatsu therapist is the use of a listening touch to feel and respond to a person`s individual needs.
The workshops will be held at the West Cork Coastal Haven on Sunday, 29th March.
Both workshops are centered around the wood phase in Chinese Medicine which is associated with the season of Spring.
The first workshop will be held by Jake O`Mahony, Sunday, 29 March 10am-12.30pm.
EMBRACE THE ENERGY OF SPRING
Spring is a time of renewal, making it the perfect season to focus on self-care, growth, and new beginnings. By nurturing your Wood element, you can align with the season’s energy and step into spring feeling refreshed and inspired.
If you’re interested in supporting your health this spring, join us for a Shiatsu workshop to harmonize your Wood element and optimize your well-being. You deserve to feel your best this season!

The second workshop will be held by Grit Glass, Sunday, 29 March, 2pm - 4.30pm.
SHIATSU AND QIGONG IN THE WOOD PHASE
In the first part of the workshop, we will spend some time to explore Wood phase related Qigong forms. The other part of the workshop you will learn some new bodywork techniques.

Both workshops are free, donation to school appretiated.
Booking through GRIT: 089 2425731

Reconnecting Through Shiatsu

Shiatsu is rooted in connection — attentive touch, thoughtful presence, and respect for the body’s own capacity for balance. These principles continue to guide the Shiatsu Society Ireland in its work supporting practitioners and promoting high standards of practice.

While we have been quieter in this space for a time, the Society’s work has continued. As we begin sharing here again, we see this as an opportunity to reconnect — with our community, with the wider public, and with the values that underpin Shiatsu practice.

Through this channel, we’ll be sharing updates, reflections, and information relevant to Shiatsu in Ireland. We look forward to staying connected and continuing the conversation.

Our Story

Shiatsu is a profoundly effective bodywork rooted in Chinese Medicine, developed in Japan and brought to the West, becoming increasingly popular since the 1970's. Shiatsu technique involves stretching, joint mobilisation and applying weight through the palms, thumbs, (knees, feet, and forearms) into various parts of the recipient's body. This encourages greater harmony of Ki (energy), circulation, flexibility and postural integrity. Many of the techniques are applied to the same system of energy channels (meridians) and acupressure points as used in acupuncture.

Shiatsu has been seen to help people to relax, connect with their body, improve overall health and wellbeing, deal with medical issues and generally help to get balance back emotionally, physically and psychologically. We use touch, stretching, holding, listening, acupoints, meridians, relaxation to help the practice.
