We are very happy with the news today that the long awaited Bantry Stroke Rehab Unit at Bantry General Hospital has finally been given the go ahead to proceed.

Confirmation has been given to management at Bantry General Hospital that funding has been secured and that construction can commence immediately.

We are so lucky to have such a facility like Bantry General Hospital and this news further secures the future of the hospital. Well done to all involved in getting this going.

Our thanks to David & Liz Ross of Top of the Rock Pod Páirc & Walking Centre for organising the Corn Threshing last weekend. A total of €1360 was raised for the Friends of Bantry General Hospital. Thanks to everyone who supported the event.

A great day for Bantry General Hospital today with the official opening of the €750,000 purpose-built facility at Bantry General Hospital’s Local Injury Unit. This is a great boost and show of confidence in the future of Bantry General Hospital.

Due to the high inpatient levels of Covid-19 the Management at Bantry General Hospital have taken the difficult decision to revise visiting arrangements in order to protect patients, relatives and staff.

From Tuesday 05th July 2022 visiting in the main hospital will be facilitated on compassionate grounds only and to be agreed with the Ward manager and relevant Consultant in advance of visiting.

Managements priority is to continue to keep patients safe while in the care of Bantry General Hospital, as well as maintain the safety and wellbeing of staff at the hospital.

All visiting arrangements will be reviewed weekly.

Congratulations and thanks to Michael & Chrissie O’ Mahony of Dunmanway for their generosity with their 2021 Christmas Lights fundraising initiative which raised an incredible €7,550.25.

The funds raised were divided between Co-Action Dunmanway, West Cork Ambulance Services and the Friends of Bantry General Hospital.

The Friends of Bantry General Hospital were delighted to receive €3,000 from the fundraising initiative. Thanks to everyone who supported them and donated so generously.

Planning permission has been granted for the new endoscopy unit along with a single storey extension to Bantry General Hospital which will provide 16 extra beds for a new Stroke Rehabilitation Unit. We are delighted with this news which is a huge boost for the future of Bantry General Hospital.
