I was lucky enough to be invited to the Clonakilty Resource Centre to help the walking group celebrate International Women's Day.
As well as a few little demos on making natural aromatherapy products we ended up chatting about the dangers of using chemicals to 'freshen' the air in our homes. Artificial scents are dangerous and can cause harm to our and our pets. So stay safe and natural!

Fascinating study and shows the power of our mind.

In 1979, Harvard psychologist Ellen Langer brought a group of men in their late 70s and 80s to a monastery retrofitted to look like 1959. No mirrors. No current photos. They spoke about Eisenhower in the present tense. They were told to inhabit their younger selves completely.
One week later the results were biologically confusing. Their joints were more flexible. Their grip strength increased. Their vision improved. Arthritic fingers actually lengthened as inflammation subsided. Independent observers judged their "after" photos to look significantly younger.
On the final day, these men who had arrived frail and dependent were playing touch football on the front lawn.
We think of aging as a one way street where parts wear out and systems fail. But what if the body is simply following instructions? If you tell the mind it is 1959, the body does not check the calendar. It listens to the mind.
Your body is eavesdropping on every signal you send it. What are you telling it today?

Natural skincare - a little workshop with the lovely group at the Irish Wheelchair Association this morning. Chatting about all the nasties in many shop bought products really brought it home to people that it's so important to check labels. Whatever you put on your skin is absorbed into your body. At the Irish Wheelchair Association this morning teaching this lovely group all about head and hair care. We learned a little head massage too and there were some very relaxed people having lunch afterwards.
If you'd like to learn about essential oils and plants that can help with hair issues and would like to give and receive a relaxing head massage give me a call to book your place. We'll be doing it in Skibbereen. Cost is €50.

An opportunity for self care.
On Saturday 28th February I'll be running a workshop called Aromatherapy for Head and Hair at West Cork Crafts in Skibbereen.
We'll be talking all about essential oils for hair care, making an oil for you to take home and learning a basic head massage which you can use on family and friends. Everyone who attends will give and receive a relaxing treatment.

A busy morning making a lovely sugar scrub with my group at the Irish Wheelchair Association earlier. We also chatted all about using essential oils to help boost our mood and finished with a little hand massage. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.

Nature is starting to wake up!
Cleavers is reappearing with all it's benefits.
Do you know that you can use the young tops as a vegetable? It's a great tonic for our lymphatic system too - just wash, put into a cup with hot water and allow to infuse before drinking.

My first workshop of 2026 today at the Irish Wheelchair Association. We chatted about aromatherapy to help with colds and sinus issues. Of course we ended up chatting about lots of other aromatherapy related things too and finished up by making inhalers for everyone to take home.
Back again next week to do lots more with this lovely group.

Rosemary - a wonderful plant to help digestion. The essential oil is also great for headaches, a good hair tonic and helps memory. One of my favourites!
